It would be useful to have a thread on how to get the best out of the site, eg adblock. What it is for, where to get it etc.
I have been doing some reading today, and it is against the Proboard terms to use/promote Adblockers because the ads are how they keep it free for everyone. We currently have no ads until Jan 23rd. It looks like the ads will be at the top and bottom (Example: smite.boards.net/thread/283/proboards-turned-ads-gods-help?page=2; disable your adblocker for the site to view the ads).
There shouldn't be pop-ups, flashing ads (they can have moving objects in them, though), or videos, so it will not be quite as annoying. There may be ways to report particular ads if they are a real nuisance, too.
It will cost money to not have ads, and it is based on page-views (and you can be over-drafted), but I am also short on cash for the next year because of school.
Keep in mind, it would be similar if I began my very own website without Proboards; I would also need to have ads to support it regardless, and I would have to pay fees. Technically, if you want to support free websites, you have to view the ads, but you do not have to click, though!
The good news is that it says members can also contribute at any time by clicking on, "Click here to remove banner ads from this forum". So if we want, we can all chip in a dollar here and there, but again, that is if the ads are even a problem. Based on the example I saw, I don't even have an issue with them or where they are placed. They are not very intrusive.
What are your opinions?
P.S. I do not receive any money from this forum, it just takes my money =p

If we decide to keep the ads, then you do not have to contribute anything to me or the site :-) The only contribution would be to not have adblockers on when viewing this forum (it can be disabled for certain sites), but it's also to keep yourselves from getting into trouble as they mentioned it can be detected and accounts can be deleted. However, I do believe you would be asked to turn it off first, but I cannot be certain.
Aside from that, the yearly domain, and the cost of redirecting to womenonlyforum.com, is affordable as is (about $30 a year). So no worries about that!
You won't be able to pay for the domain, but I can grant you access to paying for the cost of redirecting when it gets closer to the time, if you want. That would be $14 for another year, you can also choose to pay for any number of years up to 5 years, but that gets pricy.
I also granted you access to the ad-free section, so you can take a look at the options there.

Sorry, I'm not too familiar with terms forums might refer to certain things as lol
What do you consider a folder? Are you referring to the tabs in the navigation menu, which links to different pages? Or are you talking about adding a new category or a new board?
I was tinkering around with adding a page called "Blog", but I was reading that members would not be able to use it... only the admin (and maybe mods?) could use it to post things. I guess they don't allow you to have a blog feature that is like an actual blog. I suppose I need to have my very own website with someone else hosting to be able to add a blog on here.

I just went into the old WOF. Five posts since Tuesday; the most recent was today at 6AM. Nobody cares there and that isn't ground-breaking news. But, maybe the lack of participation is also true here. Women have joined, but disappear (like my friends, Soli, Pris, Sally, etc.) If you take away my way too many posts, what would we have? Maybe I won't post for a day or so and see what it looks like.

Well, I took a day off, but am back; much to everyone's chagrin. Mmmm . . . maybe I won't get chagrinned too much because there aren't that many posters to chagrin me. Come on, Girls - liven things up here!!!
That's not a bad idea. I'm not entirely sure where to put the board. I am leaning toward it being under the member's only category, that way random people don't come on here to spam us with things like that and leave lol they would actually need to be a member to know we have it :-)
We can then say in the description it would include petitions and information about causes?
The thing is, most of the petitions you sign online require you to sign up as a member for the site it's hosted on. You would all be okay with signing up to sites such as that? I am signed up for a few of them myself =p I get constant emails about causes, so I suppose I can share many with you all.
