We have it set up so that imgur links automatically will show an image instead of a link when pasted into the post, which is why we recommend imgur. You can use whatever you want, but it just might show as a link instead is all... and if it's not an image hosting site, then the images might also show empty after a few weeks.

They mention a two other examples aside from imgur, and they say how to upload the links instead of just pasting it in the chatbox so that hopefully the image will actually show instead of a link otherwise.
