Its taken two years, countless tests , hospital visits, overnight stays and a lot of tears but it seems my daughter finally has an answer. She doesnt have chronic fatigue syndrome or ME she has a form of narcolepsy ( type 2) She can finally put a name to her conditon and stop all the people who think she is lazy or faking it, its not great news but sometimes being able to give the beast a name and being able to get recognition goes a long way to helping recovery or at least being able to cope with a situation.

At least recognising it she can relax a little now and work out where to go next. It's often the not knowing which the worst, as you imply.

Getting closer all the time to finding that "cure".
The cynical part of me thinks they would hide it... or make it so expensive that the medications are more affordable in comparison. As long as there is money to be made off of us, then many wouldn't really want a cure out there. Shoot.. if I ever hit it rich, then I'm buying stuff like this out from under people and curing everyone lol
It's a bit deep for me but one of the main things that seems to be coming to the fore these days is the need for personalised care in very many situations. Maybe that is because we are increasingly 'getting among the trees' with advanced science.

Yes, we certainly need personalized care. There are broad thoughts and treatments for various issues, but we're all so different, and there could always be more at play than what we know so far.
Sadly because dementia is such a wide spread problem care is often given en masse and people get lumped together regardless of the level of progression in their disease, also at this point because there is still so little understood about the various types of dementia among the general community those with forms of dementia other than AD get treated with the same methods which can result in more harm than good.

The reason for that is that it is mostly community services which deal with it. It should be the mental health services teams.
Actually, looking after those with dementia was a bit of a speciality for me when I was in private practice attending to nursing, and care homes.
I don't know if anyone else has asked this already, but what do y'all think of the Flu Vaccine? Hear me out, I get ALL of my vaccines - I even would if I was not a nurse and it wasn't mandatory. I have all the COVID ones and so on and so forth. But the flu vaccine is one that I never get. I can't get it for my son because he has an allergic reaction to it. But he gets the RSV one one and all of that. It is a fight every year with the doctors for me because I always turn it down - but I literally always get sick from it. I know that sounds weird and I tell patients all the time that the vaccine cannot make you sick; yet it does lol.
I feel like a hypocrite sometimes; but it's just not one that I am "for." BUT I am not saying it is not for other people!

We are all different.
I would think twice if it made me sick, but it would have to be rationalised. I had the flu very severely once, which turned into pleurisy, and thought I was going to die, which, at the time felt like a good plan. Thus I would have to consider which was the better choice....

That completely makes sense. I know in my head a lot of my choices seem dumb, even to me - but I just cannot for the live of me agree to this doggone flu vaccine lol. I wish I could get it for little man because he has a lung issues already. I freak out all flu season hoping he doesn't get it, but I'm over here just willy nilly with my choices lol.

I know several people who have negative reactions to it but nothing serious though.
