If you ever had the Nestles chocolate that was around when I was little, which to me tasted absolutley fowl and literally made me sick, anything now would be acceptable.
I eat mostly dark chocolate, but the ones I eat taste sweet still, no bitterness. I don't really eat as high as 85% or more, though.. so not as much benefit for my health I suppose ;p The max I even have in my pantry is maybe 72% because my SO wanted darker ones for more caffeine lol I like the ones in the 55% range mostly, but all can be good depending on what else is in them. I get ones with caramel, almonds, cherries, toffee, etc... lots of yummy flavors to balance out the stronger tastes found in really dark chocolate.
I don't eat just plain chocolate much at all... I'm not as into eating it plain I guess lol I prefer it paired with something... same even for milk chocolate... but then I think dark chocolate actually tastes better paired with other flavors, so that's why I stick with it when it comes to chocolate bars.. but just chocolate-covered candy doesn't matter as much to me which type it is.
My dermatology appointment was today. The one that I was most suspicious of on my leg was removed for biopsy, so I'll have to wait around a week for results. All most of the others she said looked fine, but we'll be watching two others that are a little darker to make sure they don't really change much over time.. but she is not concerned.
The numbing hurt at first.. and then them cutting my numb skin felt so GROSS. I have no way to describe it lol it kind of nauseated me.

It doesn't sound to nice Heather but it is necessary to be sure.

A couple of years back now I took my mum to a similar appointment in which she had a large mole removed. She was not looking but I saw it all and seeing it was a bit like that too. They cut away such a large area for a small thing. I'm glad that it's sorted.

Yeah, they do go kind of a large way around.. creates a mini crater even when it's "superficial." Hopefully it's fully sorted.. if the results aren't good, then they will need to take a larger chunk out! I shudder to think of it lol

From what I understand, the suspicious mole is excised with a sufficient border around it, just in case it does come back positive for cancer. That way, they don't have to go back for more.

Yeah, if the issue doesn't go deep, then they may have already gotten it all. Mine was a superficial shave biopsy, so it wasn't really deep at all... but my doc didn't think it was quite melanoma yet, but could maybe have eventually developed into something... so I would be really surprised if I had to get more done! She thinks at most it might come back with abnormal cells at this stage.. she was concerned because I noticed it growing kind of quickly out of nowhere this year, and it looked like a mini puzzle piece in shape. It could still be benign.. some things just look weird and are harmless, but no point in risking it with my family history. I'd rather have a scar than something that I'd have to worry about for years waiting to see if it turns into something any day!
I think how deep they go with the biopsy depends on what they think it might be to begin with, but going back afterward would also depend on what it comes back as on the path report and how deep it is found in the biopsy. The goal isn't necessarily to get it all on the biopsy because they don't seem to try to remove more than needed just to find out it's nothing, but some biopsies do just end up removing everything because a lot of skin cancers are more near the surface, and it is kind of hard to get a biopsy without taking a decent chunk, even if superficial lol
My mom had to get Mohs surgery after a few of her biopsies that came back as BCC, which is when they just take small layers until they get it all, but I think she lucked out and they got it after the first layer after the biopsy... but with the melanoma they took a much larger chunk afterward.

I always measure and record my patients moles, if they are on the leg or foot. You should do the same.
The moles that are most risky, are on the hands, feet, and bra line. But any that show ANY sign of change need investigating.

Yeah, they circled two and took pictures so we can keep track! One on the right arm and one on the right leg. They looked normal in size and shape, but they were darker than most of my others... but who knows, maybe I got more sun on that side or something.. it was weird they were both on the right side... aside from the weird one on my left shin they removed.
The results were dysplastic nevi with mild atypia. So, closer to benign than melanoma still at that stage. They said the margins were clear, so no more work to be done!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As for me...I've seen enough doctors this past 2 wks that I'm already sick of it. I had a really bad sinus infection that turned into a respiratory infection that then turned into thrush in my throat which is an infection I get from time to time from my COPD meds. I have a liquid I have to rinse and swallow with to get rid of it. He's putting me on ipratropium for my nebulizer to help open up my lungs more.
The shrink put me on Abilify and 1 tiny little children's dose of 2 mg did quite the number on me yesterday. So no more of that. She gave me samples of the Trintellix but the side effects are worrisome. So I think I'm just gonna tell her I don't want any meds. The meds scare the hell outta me. They never work the way they want them to. Especially because of my Tourette's. I can get over the counter mood stabilizer's that won't do this crap to me. I never even wanted to go to the psychiatrist. I just wanted to see the therapist. I just wanted someone to listen and try to help me find ways to cope that don't involve stupid ass breathing exercises. They don't help me with the problems I'm dealing with. I need solutions. These people get pd. a pretty penny to f*ck with our lives. It's infuriating sometimes.
