Today I got the first of my tomatoes and a pepper into the greenhouse. The cucumber seeds which I planted a few days ago have sprouted too so I have put a couple of the seedlings out too. If it's too early for them I will have others. To help things along I have used my cloches over the little plants so they have effectively a double greenhouse. It doesn't talk of frosts so hopefully things will now move forward. I think I am later this year. One thing I ought to do, but have never done, is to write a diary with times of things. It does vary a bit though as this year, for instance, it is the wettest end of March I remember.

Jen, it sounds like everything os coming on well.
Yes, although it seems slow. We don't have your weather though
My seedlings appear to have survived their first nights out in the cold of the greenhouse. It's a good job as the cucumber seedlings left in the house have come on very rapidly and will soon need to be out too.

Our, 'just out of the greenhouse', plants seem to have survived the sharp frost we had this morning.
A bunch of our now more established azaleas are budding... one of them gotten eaten up by something, guessing some deer lol of course, it was one of our top performers last year, and now it's like half the size and not as many buds. Bummer. I will try to get some pictures on a sunny day, so hopefully they don't all open up during the days of rain and make them just get destroyed lol
I have eaten one of those spiky cucumbers, they don't sell them in our shops. I presume because it was tasty.
Our cucumbers here are so bland.
I'm surprised you don't have these over there. I am assuming you have the smooth longer ones.
I have grown the spiky ones before. They look a bit like larger versions of the gherkins I have grown. This year I am growing two varieties. One is the smooth, short fat ones, I grew the last two years. The other is a new variety, for me, which I think are smooth and longer.
My cucumber plants are currently about 2 inches tall but they are in the greenhouse.

Jen, if you know the varieties you have would you share it?

The company does sell seeds for the spiky ones too. They do a good variation for anyone here although regulations probably limit things for outside Europe (and I see even Europe at the moment).
I forgot to say, I planted some beetroot seeds yesterday too. I liked the sweet white beetroot I grew last year. Currently I now have just one pepper plant, whose place in the greenhouse is reserved, and one tomato plant in the house, to go out. I will sort them out within the next day or two.
In my first planter with carrots they have sprouted so it will soon be time to move them out of the greenhouse and plant the next batch of seeds.

Thank you Jen, I am always looking for different varieties to try so i am going to take a look and research these.
It looks like it is going to be a banner year for mangos. There are hundreds on my tree right now. I know they won't all make it, especially the lower ones, the deer will eat those.

In my garden I work with share with nature, as long as they don't get too greedy

Jen, I do too. Most of my trees are protected or too big for any real issues but the mango treenis quite large so i share the wealth with my backyard neighbors.

Our squirrels tend to eat our apples, pears and plums.
Our (third) redbud is thriving... at long last.... lol it barely flowered, but it has lots of leaves now, so maybe next year it will do better with flowers. I'm just so glad it didn't have bad luck and die (or be dead on arrival) like the other two.
