I replanted my pea seedlings yesterday. I am hoping they pot on well but I am trying grow disks similar to those here - Grow disks , at the moment. Potting on seems good at just taking the expanded disk, cylinder with protruding roots, and potting it so there seems to be little root disturbance. They will work seamlessly with my hydroponics and traditional soil based growing.
It's early days yet as I only started using them a little last year but it's far less messy and much easier to transplant.
Those are very similar to what I use, mine are a little narrower and deeper. The problem I had is I had too many growing together and I had to separate them so they would kave room to grow in my garden.
The ones I use are a bit narrower too. So far I have only potted on some peas this year and I plant one seed in each disk so it was easy.
I have noticed that my leafy vegetables, in the greenhouse and even the spinich in the house, have shot up recently as well. The extra hours of light are making a big difference. I am planning to have a pak choi out of the greenhouse for lunch. It's well ready to eat
I planted some more seeds yesterday. It's a slow start this year but things are moving. I had another of my Pka Choi with lunch yesterday. They have grown well.
We're putting up some bird feeders near the deck... thinking of getting some bird houses for blue birds and such. For birds that like to nest in holes in trees.
I've already been sprinkling bird food outside in small amounts for the last handful of days, and I've seen thrashers, bluebirds, finches, a titmouse, and cardinals coming around for it.
We re-filled out feeders as soon as the snow came. We have a problem with squirrels eating all their food, so we can only use squirrel proof feeders.

Do they exist? They can get almost anywhere.
The hole in the feeder is accessed by standing on a perch. If the 'bird' is heavier than the average bird, the spring loaded perch falls bringing down a door closing off the nut access port.

Nice!

Yesterday I planted out some more pea seedlings. I put these in one of the hydroponic tanks in the greenhouse and re-started the system. Luckily I cleaned things out after last season. I was not intending to put the peas there but I am thinking forward. I just hopw that the peas come into season before the weather gets too hot as they are not really a greenhouse plant and won't like heat.
I have also planted some more seeds this morning. Carrots in the greenhouse, and a few marigolds (if I remember the latin right as that was what was on the packet lol).

Yesterday I finally got round to planting some cucumber seeds as well as some sunflower seeds too. I moved things around in the greenhouse too as it is getting far too hot for the broad beans there. The kale, which I moved out the other day, seems far happier out in the open.

PLease tell the kale that I am happy for them.
Some are probably less happy now as they had limbs cut off and eaten for lunch yesterday. It probably does not do to look too healthy when you are a vegetable?
I checked my plants which I have potted on from seedlings this morning. It's time for the tomatoes, at least, to go out into the greenhouse as their roots are beginning to peek out the bottom of the pots.
I reorganised the greenhouse yesterday ready for the summer plants. Most of the cooler weather ones are now outside. I found that I had an ants nest which needed sorting. I don't mind the ants themselves but they farm aphids which is not good.
