They got better Karen, but also got more expensive. Where I am now, the monthly HOA is $460.
What service do you get for that?
They take care of all the gardening all around outside the fence, the streets of this community, all the lighting in this community. They also monitor the neighborhood and enforce the regulations such as keeping the neighborhood looking good and safe in order to maintain the market value of this community.
You are right, big bucks not justified but the first day I checked in on a Saturday. there were a few things not right. No cold water in 4 of the bathrooms, the A/C did not work in one of the zones, one of the dishwashers' door did not close properly, the pocket door in my walk in closet did not close properly, ants in the laundry room, my trash cans were smaller than expected, car charger outlet was not installed, I made one call at 8:30AM in the morning and by noon, all problems were fixed.
Not only that, the next day, a bouquet of flowers and a fruit basket were delivered to us for our inconvenience.

So, must be the service they are charging.
Thats a lot more than they would do here. Ours has nothing to do with what goes on inside your home.

But once they fix them, then there is not much left to do.
Got to get into the garden this weekend its going a bit wild out there .problem is its been first too hot and now its been raining buckets.. Mind you our 'herbs' are growing well, its all smelling a bit Bob Marley out there!
I have to admit its not mine... My son in law suffers gout in his foot and knee, the medication for it is awful stuff and side effects include more pain, nausea and diarrhea..Its also not very good for the kidneys, but herbal methods are much less stressful

Yes, officer, if fell into my pocket at a recent reggae concert, then I shook out my pocket in the garden, and my husband just hasn't been keeping these tall weeds down.....

We will be buying some new plants in the next month or so. We are going to get another magnolia for the other side of our property and a carolina sweetheart redbud to go in the spot where our oak used to be. And well.... we're not entirely sure if we want to replace the azaleas that died or not because maybe it's just not a good spot for them. I'm afraid it will keep happening, so I wonder if maybe I should just replace the ones that died with something that might do better there.

I want a magnolia.
I have just been round the woods gathering up Rhododendron cuttings and planting them. Now is the ideal time for it, apparently.

I have a pretty ambitious plan for my new place's landscape!
Time to share?
I am at the stage where I am still collecting pictures for inspirations Cherry, so ladies, if you have any ideas of low maintenance, drought tolerant but colorful and nice plants and flowers, please help me. waiting to get city permits for the build-outs. The yard will kick in after everything is done. 5-6 months project easily. But the good thing is the new house is only 10 minutes from this house so we can go see it everyday.
