As for the state as a whole, we have some nice parks, gardens, and wineries. I'm just not close to most of them, though lol I do sometimes have to drive an hour or so to go places.
I chose a more easy-going place on purpose to live in ;p So, I don't have as much to share for my direct area. Sometimes you'll see a man riding a horse still in our downtown area lol
A province in the North of the Netherlands ( best known to most people wrongly as Holland) Friesland has been described by lonely planet as a hidden gem ranking 3rd in their places to visit in Europe.
I live in the main city Leeuwarden which has a population of 100,000
Claims to fame include the Oldehove a church tower that actually leans at a more acute angle than the tower of pizza.
Its the birthplace of Saskia Uylenburgh, wife of the painter Rembrant.
Also the birth place of artist MC Escher
and of course of Margaretha Zelle better known as Mata Hari..
From my house Im 10 mins walk from the center of town and 10 minutes from open countryside cows sheep etc.
We are below sea level so the threat of flooding is always there and there is a practice alarm that goes off at 12 noon on the first monday of the month..Any other time it goes off its time to panic!
Just down the road in Franeker is the worlds oldest working planetarium and in a village nearby called Kimswerd is the statue of Grutte Pier (Giant Peter) our very own version of Robin Hood he fought bravely and fiercely against the invading Dutch when they arrived he had a sword taller than himself that he swung with ease ( he was 7 foot tall) and in one fight he is said to have wielded a plough againt the invaders.
This is a fiercly independant province with its own culture and language. It is flat and could be called stark but it is beautiful and home to a lot of wildlife not seen in other areas of the country.
I didn't realise friesians were from abroad. I assumed they were uk based.
Nice looking landscape. Is it protected from the sea, or was it taken?
Both... Frisia exsisted back in Roman times but there was a lot more of it exposed to the sea and major channels ran deep into the land these have been beaten back and the dikes are now what protect us from flooding.

It's peak foliage here and it's better than usual. This is the only tree that has color to it. lol. imgur.com/xDRkDZN
A maple tree? I have 4 in my front yard. They are long done already, though lol
I have a few out back Heather. When I was in New Hampshire peak season was in October not January.. This is the only one we have with any color on it at all.

Florida is so boring compared to other states when it comes to fall colors lol

My house is only 15% done but the contractors and architect have been giving our name out for reference like crazy. So far, six of them have visited our project and requested to meet with us. I already talked to them on the phone, I don't know what they want to meet with us.

I would think that would become a big annoyance to you if it continues.
A striking sky showing "undercast" on Mt Washington in New Hampshire. It has quite a weather story as having the worst weather in the world especially in winter. Winds have reached 232 miles per hour. imgur.com/S4JdRmX
