We need more awareness and help available. No more stigmas!
I have only ever known one suicide, and he was a young male. Late 20's, if I recall.
I still think about one person I was introduced to. It was in a bus queue in town. Later that evening he shot himself with a shotgun he owned. He was so normal and friendly from the outside. I still wonder whether it was just an accident or silly prank. He was in his late teens. That was years ago now, when I was around the same age. A cousin of mine commited suicide too. The reason why never came out but it was not unlikely a family breakup. He was somewhat older.
Working with people with life changing conditions and terminal illnesses meant that occasionally they talked about suicide. It was obviously difficult to discuss with them but it was one part of the job that was not really ours but you just got on with. I don't remember any of our patients who actually did it but some deteriorated rapidly, more from their state of mind. Really they just got to a point and gave up.

I have listened to a few patients contemplating suicide. Thankfully I never heard of any of them achieving it. They were uncomfortable sessions.
Just remembering my first wannabee suicide patient. She was a home visit and was housebound due to an ulcer in her leg. The ulcer was an old scar she had got at 18 when she crashed her motorbike, and a spoke went straight through.
She just wanted to die, but she was naturally cheery, so by the time I left, she always had a broad smile. But cross with herself, as she had expected to be suicidal still.
My friend keeps threatening suicide. But there is little I can do. But I am praying.
Probably stressing you more than it is them
It is terrible to laugh but my poor friend dangled her feet outside her window. If she had fallen it would be very serious. But picturing her with legs slightly dangling out the window is quite funny. She had NO INTENTION of jumping. I know this for a fact: she told me this herself. But she just wanted to scare her neighbours so they'd call the ambulance.
I think the Humber Bridge not far from me has had it's share (Humber Bridge Closure). Currently it appears open but I do notice a click on link at the bottom left of their page for help: Humber Bridge
The last time I was on it and walked a little way across I felt a bit giddy though. The height got me and I could feel the bridge moving under my feet

It's sad but with her antics I would not be surprised if someone did not tell her to jump

Yeah, suspension bridges are like that. Our Royal Gorge Bridge is a small bridge in comparison, but it's really high...1053 feet at one point. One can really feel it move, especially when windy or being crossed by vehicles. I've never seen any sort of safety nets. I wonder if it's because the bridge is a limited-access tourist attraction. I've never heard of anyone jumping other than bungee jumpers.

I was wrong. Upon further investigation, I discovered that the bridge averages one per year.
