This upset me greatly, my mom had dementia for 13 years. I witnessed every stage she went through. I can't believe someone would fraudulently capitalize on the patients' suffering but of course, there are crooks every where.
My thyroid levels are really high I was borderline hypo about a year ago, and the physician I was seeing reduced my meds way too much, so I flipped the other way.... it's why I've switched physicians in hopes of finding someone who will provide better treatment.

If it's any help. This is the gold standard here in the uk.
I had another scary heart episode yesterday.. the last one was like 1.5 years ago where I had awoken to my heart rate being super high. This time I was showering, and my heart had three weird palpitations in a row, then my heart rate skyrocketed. It felt like it had to be 150-200 BPM range. I got out of the shower and just sat on the floor doing deep breathing, and it calmed down in 10-15 minutes. IDK if the heat from the shower jump-started it because I was using a heating pad on my back recently and also had three heart palpitations in a row, but it didn't cause my heart rate to rise like that during... but still seems like heat is bringing on the palpitations, and then the palpitations can cause an arrhythmia. My anxiety is high now from that... and I keep being paranoid something is going to set it off again.
I know now that I've swung hyper that I'm more at risk of heart issues, so I'm just hoping it will improve once I'm back in range... but I think I will see a cardiologist to make sure I don't have anything else wrong. I might have to wait until my levels are good, though.

I understand the reason for possibly waiting, but I'd want to go the cardiologist right away to have all the information I could, and know how to proceed. I think that would help with anxiety, too, having done all you can do.
Hugs!

I hope you are Ok. Luckily I haven't had anythng like that recently but I remember one time when I was it town years ago when my heart rhythm seemed to go funny and everything went out of sync. I relaxed and it settled after a minute or two but it was scary.
Sometimes these things are best checked as soon after they happen as possible as they may leave traces of what happened. Whatever it was though, take care of yourself
I am getting more heartburn lately, and you hear these stories of heart attack victims being found with their pockets full of anti acids, due to personal mis-diagnosis.

Good article. I'm aware of this because of all the patient records I read where the symptoms are so similar and sometimes they honestly cannot tell the difference at first until they run so many tests and find nothing related to the heart. It's wild... that's why even I sometimes don't know if it's something with my heart or my stomach when I get weird feelings.
It's of most importance to focus on the differences between men and women... women do need to be aware that their symptoms may not be what you'd expect on average.
And don't get me started on silent heart attacks.. how scary!

I never realized that the symptoms could be mis diagnosed. Heartburn isn't an issue for me thankfully.
I had a quick look as I did suffer a mild attack recently. It seems almost certainly heartburn and it has gone now. I do get it from time to time although never usually bad enough for medication.
I learned of this a while back on Grey's Anatomy. LOL
A hypochondriac had diagnosed herself with all sorts of things, the latest being a staph infection. She "overdosed" on antibiotics (I don't remember where she got them):

Updating on my thyroid woes... I haven't been feeling good. My dosage was increased, and the Endocrinologist suggested I get my thyroid removed because of my goiter size (it's 3 times the normal size ATM) and because of how long I've had this disease without ever going into remission. My symptoms abruptly worsened two days after the visit (breathless barely doing anything going on a week now), so it will probably be a while before I feel okay. I have a thyroid biopsy on Friday for a nodule that is almost the size of what a healthy thyroid should be in some dimensions... so hoping I don't have cancer, but might still need to remove my thyroid anyway because the goiter is bothering me, but I've had mine shrink some before, so I'm not sure. I'm depressed and scared. I want to curl up in a ball and cry so often.
I've been dealing with Graves' Disease for so long, and I'm just tired... I only remember a brief point in time where I felt okay a few years into being on medications... then when they tried to wean me off in hopes I'd go into remission, it skyrocketed again, and I was never able to reduce my meds as low as it was at that point. I wish I could feel that way again. I hear mixed stories from people who have removed their thyroid.... I'm afraid of making myself feel even worse than I already do, but a part of me also wonders if it would make me feel better than I do, even if I never feel great... It's not like I really know what normal feels like, I've had health issues most of my life. It's not an easy decision, but the decision will be made for me if the biopsy is positive or if the goiter grows more instead of shrink. I already found a surgeon with good reviews just in case. Trying to be mentally prepared for whatever happens.
I don't have many people I talk to about this type of thing, so thanks for reading...

Hopefully, once it's removed, your levels will be easier to manage. If one takes an unpredictable thyroid out of the mix, medications would be easier to adjust...or am I being naïve/over-simplifying?
