This is a self care thread and there are days when I make myself an alcoholic drink as part of my self care. LMBO!
And just for the record...I have never had any problems because of booze. When I say I'm having a couple of mixed drinks...I'm talking a capful of Crown Royal in a 12 oz can of soda pop. Two of those are not enough to get drunk or become an alcoholic. Especially with no more often than what I drink. We're talking every 3 - 6 months maybe.
My mom has a small glass of wine that she sips a lot of nights to help her unwind after work... Moderation is part of the self-care lol

I practice self-care every day: I look after myself fully. I also look after my apartment to make myself feel better.
I was taught to look after myself. This also includes my teeth. OK: a random comment. BUT I did - and do - look after my teeth. In fact, I am forever brushing them and going to the dentist.
Dental care is very much a part of self-care. Again, seemingly random, but true.

I've been looking after my feet:
1. I soap and shower gel them daily in the shower 2. I cut my toenails last night 3. I use thick foot cream at night 4. I wear fluffy socks at night 5. I regularly use a pumice device to remove dead skin
I also wash my face every night and use face cream afterwards.

Self care is also helped by keeping mentally healthy. Like being with people and dealing with depression in a positive way. Plus, socializing with "normal" people, rather than those that are negative and drag you down.
Mental health is an important subject and important to take care of in a helpful and pleasant way.
I have come to realise that the current spate of price rises may be helping my health quite a bit. I am increasing less likely to buy bottles of alcohol, or even fizzy drinks (although I never had many) these days as I look to making my own simple juices.
For instance, it may be a negative way of looking at it but I was put off buying a brand of rum I like as Sainsbury's now charge £25 a bottle for it unless you use a nectar card, in which case it is £20. I have gone off store cards altogether, particularly now they are messing them about and using apps etc. The rum was either £22 or £23 before the current situation so it seems they have upped the price just to compensate for some using their nectar and, in the process, making it look like a good deal. It actually puts me off buying it altogether. Particularly as I have usually waited until it was on offer at £20 anyway, as it has been from time to time.
Luckily my memory is good so I remmber prices fairly well. I shop around and don't put all my eggs in one basket.
Reflecting on self care, the only thing I can add is that I am managing to maintain what good habits I do have.
Ditto.
I just carry on with the right habits. I don't take radical steps: I use common sense and self awareness.*
*This seems daft: everyone is self aware, right? Wrong. Being self aware requires a higher consciousness. It is like that bug is self aware - because it's alive - but it isn't actually aware of itself as such.

Careful!
To regard someone as, in the 'wrong' is to push them into the category of inferior.
I would imagine that being 'self aware' is something everyone has, perhaps except for some forms of mental illness.
How smug do you have to be to think you know better than everyone around you? They are forming opinions of you all the time. Why should you think they are all wrong, just because they don't agree with you 100%?
We all have the potential to know ourselves better than others because we know the truth deep down, if we're willing to look... everyone else sees what we allow them to see.
I actually do a lot of reflection and try to be aware of my self. I try to learn why I am the way I am to grow as a person and be better in any areas I feel needs work. I think that's a type of self-care, too..... because we all have to be happy with ourselves, and I can't be happy with bad habits or negative mentalities. I'm not blind to myself at all.... lol

Undoubtably, but that's just the large picture. The little pictures can be very different. Has no-one ever said "You could do that.." and you tried it and found they were right?

I'm not quite sure why you are equating self-awareness with meaning the person knows everything better than everyone?
Are we going by the same definition? "Your ability to perceive and understand the things that make you who you are as an individual, including your personality, actions, values, beliefs, emotions, and thoughts."
Nobody has ever helped me learn about myself to that degree. Pointing something out about me doesn't mean that person knows why I am that way; that's for me to figure out by looking inward, as I am the only person who has been part of every moment of my life. Everything else is an assumption or opinion from others, but they don't know unless they could watch my life like a movie and dissect parts to bring to my attention for me that I may have forgotten about lol

I hear what you are saying...
But
Many traits are unquantifiable. While we can measure height, we can only measure tall, by using an opinion. It is not a quantity, until opinions have been gathered.
That analogy is very simplistic, and not altogether appropriate, but you should be able to see where it is going.

Thinking you know better than everybody else isn't the same as self awareness. Understanding your inner world is different to arrogance. YOU know YOU. You understand your own motivations. You understand your own emotional reasoning. You understand yourself.
Why do some people confuse this with arrogance or even worse?
We walk every day except in really extreme weather, by that I mean minus 15c (we have the clothes for it the dogs dont) or when there is a red weather warning. I think walking outdoors and seeing the sky clears the mind and lifts the spirits.
Im told that the simple act of walking, the stimulation it gives both physcially and mentally is whats helping keep OH so alert and healthy.
