All my hydroponics are set yp and are waiting for the plants. I have about 24 growing from seed now and it shouldn't be to long until I move them outside.
It's interesting how much difference our locations make. My little kale seedling that are in the planter just outside my back door looked really unhappy yesterday morning surrounded in a thin layer of frozen snow and freezing conditions. They are looking happy today though as it is warmer. It is Siberian kale so is very hardy. Although I mentioned previously that kale is cheap to buy I love to grow things and wanted something that I could be confident that would grow outside in winter. My seedlings in the greenhouse are happier and braving things well.

Thank you Jen. Sometimes I need a little luck. lol...
I bought a large ceramic planter for my Black Pine yesterday. It has blown over in the recent wind and I know that the current plastic one is no good. I originally got the seed in a bonsai kit but never got round to the bonsai and it just grew. On checking it seems to be a western Black Pine rather than a Japanese one so it seems an unsuitable cheap and nasty seed kit for bonsai anyway. Hopefully I will sort it at the weekend.
Yesterday I also bought some more vegetable seeds. I should have enough now but I just cannot help myself lol
Many of the seeds germinated, and we have planted them outside now. We put netting over them so they will hopefully be left alone until they are bigger. One of them was already almost an inch tall.. the tallest one of all of them. That one was just really excited to grow apparently!

I love gardening programmes. I may have mentioned that before, but I do. I really like indoor plants and flowers, too. I look after a number of house plants - and have re-potted said house plants - so know what I am doing.
Looking after the natural world is vital. Even looking after a small plant can teach kids that.
I was busy on Saturday, organising in the garden. I re-potted my Balck Pine so I now have my outside Christmas tree upright again. My fingers are crossed though as storms are predicted in the next few days and the roots on the tree are somewhat cut back so it doesn't have much support until they grow again
I find it's funny that my husband asked me to promise him that when it comes to the yard, leave it to the gardeners. He told me if I want to plan something, he will have a planter pot installed and I can just plant in there. Considering how many plants I have killed, I find it hard to object to that request.

Annie, you have to plant something yourself. At least one little plant. That way you can claim look at the garden that I created.

Oh, I have all the intention to do that, I have to look for a cheap plant to try
Bulbs are easy peasy. You make a hole, you drop the bulb in, cover it over and pat it down.
what kind of bulbs, Cherry?
Most any outdoor garden bulbs really.
Over here, the first that spring to mind are daffodils, tulips, snowdrops, and crocuses. But take advice from your local garden shop. Over here we tend to call them nurseries.

Just make sure you put it in the right way .
Which way up should bulbs be planted? Always plant bulbs with the pointed growing tip facing upwards. If it isn't clear which is the top, then try planting bulbs on their side. Some tuberous plants such as begonias will be flatter than bulbs and don't have an obvious growing point.
Thanks Karen, We will move in on Sunday eventhough the house is not completely done. Most importantly, my shoes rack won't be built until Monday . Also, the car chargers won't be installed until Monday as well. Landscape lighting might take another 10 days

Prioritize Annie. make sure your shoe rack is at the top of the list...
Our netting on the sprouting flowers got weighed down a bit too much by the heavy rains, so it was lying on top.. squished some of them.. oops. Hope they will bounce back... We put extra stakes everywhere now, so lesson learned!

you bet Karen, my shoes arrived to the new house today. They better get the shoes rack done for me and the wine rack done for hubby this week.
I am looking into hydroponics a little (prompted a little by Karen mentioning it ). I have one experimental little home-made pot on the go (wick feed) in which all three seeds that I planted at the end of last week have germinated (Pak Choi), but, yesterday, I downloaded an whole library of books to learn a bit. I am a kleptomaniac for information lol
