I am lucky, San Francisco is one of the food capitals of the world.
Over here you are only really known for being in a song that was a big hit, and is still played occasionally now. I had no idea you were the food capital of the world..
I thought usa was famous for bad food, like mcdonalds and such.
Foodies over here talk about france or italy. All the chefs here aspire to going there to prove themselves.

Every where in the world, someone always claims their town is famous about food. In Spain, it's Figueres, in France, it's Lyon, in Italy, it's Sicily....Eating is always a big part of our traveling but to me, San Francisco has the most diversified and best food scene. Maybe the very top ones are somewhere else in France or Italy, but in general, I still think SF is the best.

The Charlotte, NC area actually has a lot of good food, too. Maybe not as known as places in New York and such, but it's better than what I had growing up in FL even. South Florida was mostly cuisine from Hispanic cultures, so not quite as much variety.
The USA is only known for their fast food abroad because that is what we bring everywhere, but we have so much diversity, probably more than many other countries due to us being a melting pot. We have authentic food from all over the world in our big cities and even in some of our small towns.
However, in the south we also have a lot of BBQ places, which I want less of, but they keep adding MORE lol

BBQ's are so annoying, it is close to being funny, and only misses that target by a mile or two.
The big WTF is of course, why 'he' suddenly discovers he can cook. WTF is that all about?

I've always loved this song.

Here is something I love to make: Boil some pasta (I use Dischi Volanti pasta), let it cool. Then fry them, adding scrambled eggs towards the end. When the pasta is nicely browned and crisp, I add lots of Ketchup, mix it up, and then pop it onto a plate and feast.
Sometimes I add small pieces of salami. They taste great when fried.
I have a binder that is for all those pull outs or recipe cards you sometimes find in supermarkets. Ive got some great recipes in it from jams to cakes and veggie souffle to stew I lovfe finding alternatie ways to cook things I know ut have got a bit stuck in a rut with..
Some of the sites like G.H and BBC have cookery pages on FB people share pictures of their sucesses sometimes and its nice to see how ordinary people cook instead of just the pro's
I virtually never use recipes. One type of book that I would recommend though are those which list ingredients and their uses. They are very good if you have something unusual and just need some ideas using it. Otherwise I just glance online for ideas.

I don't usually follow or have exact recipes, just the ingredients without a set amount of anything usually lol aside from maybe the meat because it's already weighed for me.

Mostly I wing it but there are a few things that I use recipes for.
Thinking of trying something along the lines of this. I'll be winging it, but similar ingredients based on what I have on hand (pears, maple syrup, mustard... chicken!).

Oh yeah, I know American worship Italian ad French cuisine too but I find too much tomato in Italian food and too much heavy sauce in French cuisine.

Being from the north and growing up with maple syrup I still use it quite often.

Shoot, I grew up in Florida, but I like maple syrup because it tastes good!
I can eat pretty much anything as long as they are clean.
I think that it comes from my childhood of being in the fields and eating straight from nature but clean to me is not really the 'wash everthing' which tends to be recommended these days. Clean is a relative term lol
