Someone gave me a small Hershey chocolate a few weeks ago.. and it really did have this almost vomit taste. I haven't had it forever, and I usually ate chocolates with caramel, nuts and such instead as kid anyway, so I guess I didn't realize how bad the chocolate was.

I haven't seen that over here. I have noticed, in recent years, that chocolate is far more variable than it used to be. When most of the chocolate in the UK was more locally produced by UK companies it seemed far more to our tastes, whether or not it was nutritionally bad.

This does explain why we don't have usa chocolate here..
When I took down the Christmas tree yesterday, I realised where the Christmas chocolate gifts were - still under the tree. Oops! Hopefully some of it is good quality stuff!

The expression that suits those 'chocolates' is always, always, 'flatters to deceive'.
How do you all cook rice? Do you use a rice cooker or a pot?
I've been thinking of buying a rice cooker because I don't like how it comes out most of the time when I cook it in a stove pot... but I also have a crockpot I could test it out in, but it would likely take way longer to complete, as the heat would differ lol

I use a pot, but I also buy the fast-cooking rice, so it's 20 mins for brown rice rather than 40-45 mins. Might not be as healthy for the quicker stuff, though...

We use a pot too. The problem of a rice cooker, is where do you keep the thing? I like my worktops uncluttered really. Anything taking up space, aka valuable real estate, has to really earn its place.

I don't often cook rice so there would be no point in a rice cooker for me. Having a small kitchen too means I take Cherry's point on space. It's a pan or pot with me.

I do that sometimes, too, because I like the texture better than when I cook it in the pot. I follow instructions for the long way, and it's just kind of meh lol
Jasmine rices can be cooked in about 20 minutes, so if not getting those quick bagged ones, then I end up with that one instead of brown even though brown is supposed to be a bit more nutritious.

I have a bottom cabinet between the sink and dishwasher that is larger, kind of like the "lazy susan" cabinet spaces, so I put the appliances I don't use as often in there and only have the ones I use regularly on the counter. So far, I have a crockpot, blender, mixer, food processor, and water filter (for if going away from home for a while, and they don't have filtered water) in there... I could probably fit a small rice cooker, too... I wouldn't get a huge one, as there's only two of us, and I'd only make enough for a few nights of leftovers at most.
But guess nobody has any recommendations here for a rice cooker.. lol was hoping someone knew of any good ones at least if I did go that route, but for now I will continue in the pot.
Rice cooker for Jasmine/sushi/brown rice. Pot for basmati because I can cook it better in a pot than in a rice cooker. I have the cheapest regular rice cooker.
Although I do cook using a normal cooker I have to say that I probably make more use of the microwave than any other cooking appliance.
I know what you mean. I love to use my stove and oven but sometimes the microwave is so much easier and faster. But, there is nothing like a meal cooked the "old fashioned" way.
