Maybe she hasn't found the right apple. There's like a gazillion different kinds. I dislike the mushy gritty ones. I like gala's or honey crisps.

I don't like many of the shop bought apples. Freshy picked ones tend to be much better; Even from my mongrel tree with it's non-descript variety.

Is there such a thing? 

Spiced apple jelly..apple chutney..apple and blackberry jam..

Yes, they are.

But mostly red. 

Our tree is too but only one one side, lower down. I think the birds had a go at the buds during the winter.

Food is of great interest to me. I can experiment with it. I can explore the world in ingredients, thinking of how they are used by the peoples of the world. There are many interesting rituals concerning it. Quite a bit of the food I eat I grow so it gives interest in nature.

Really the subject is very wide. Even a McDonalds lover could do interesting research on the differences in their burgers throughout the world. I wonder if anyone has set themselves the task of visiting as many McDonalds in other countries as they can Not one for me but it's something someone has probably thought of. Who will be the first to learn 'grease' in fifty languages
