I just stick to my same Internet provider. Why bother switching to another one?
Some of us don't have many options to choose from to begin with... monopolies everywhere! lol
We have lots of them, all fighting for business. I pay the same for my phone as did 13 years ago. Our internet provider/landline is cheaper than it was 8 years ago.

I stuck with my current phone until it was paid off through my monthly bill. Yay! The company calls it a tab, and mine wasn't super big because I chose an older phone. (I was just switching back to Samsung from LG - not that LG is bad, but I love Samsung for phones and tablets.) Still feels great to have it paid in full.
Now we'll see if I get bit with the bug to upgrade... As long as the phone is doing well, I don't need a new phone. Right? I'll keep reminding myself of that. (Plus, I already checked and I don't like the available phones that only go on your tab and don't need any money down.)

The phones I buy are unlocked, and I pay month to month for service (no contract). If you drive a Toyota, don't get an iPhone. The iOS 15.1 upgrade screwed up the Bluetooth connectivity of my iPhone 12 Mini with Toyota's Entune. From what I can tell, I can't back out of the update. So, I'll just have to revert to my Galaxy S7 and write off the iPhone as a loss. That was my first (and last) Apple product.

Really? I am not having any issues at all and I have a new Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. If that is actually happening Apple will have a fix for it in no time.
Can't do much with my phone, assigned to me by work. My phone and car are synced. I don't carry key any more, My phone opens all the doors inside and outside of my office building, even the garage, I use my phone to make payment when I go shopping or pay people.

Wow Annie! You can do all that with one of these...

I grew up with those! At the time, the phone company owned them. Push-button phones cost extra; then they became more mainstream, and the trim/slimline phones cost extra.

We didn't even have 911 here when we had one of those oldies. But you could just get the operator with 0 and then probably ask for police/ambulance/fire.

I remember that from childhood. Our first phone was rented and the phone company must have made a packet over the years as they were very reliable.

I laugh when "Pretty Woman" is on TV: you see Richard Gere with his ancient mobile phone. Modern mobile phones/smart phones/whatever-you-want-to-call-them-phones are so much smaller. Richard Gere's phone in the film is like a brick! That - unfortunately - shows the film's age. [Other than that, a good movie.]
Back to the subject: those old phones in the 1990's did not have the technology of today. It goes to show the hard work of our scientists and engineers and the whatnot types of people who've been making the 21st century.

I remember more Del Boy and his dodgy mobiles better:
I got one so that the kids should always have a phone option when they're home. It feels like a luxury to say we have both landline and cell.
I wonder if they are destined to become extint?
Well telephone kiosks are rare here now as they are phasing them out. An interesting site I just found (for nerds anyway lol) : www.the-telephone-box.co.uk/
Using the trend toward voice over IP I can see that the mobile and landline systems can be effectively combined so that there is no reason why a 'landline style' phone could not be plugged, or wirelessly, connect into the home system. Maybe one of the voice control systems (Alexa etc) will actuall replace the landline?

There are a few in gardens around us. I think they are rather cute, but only in their place. They just look daft in gardens.
I recently bought what you might call a modern smart phone. (Honestly I'd still be using my RAZR if I could). Anyway, one thing I LOVE about it is that I can increase the font size in all applications. Makes life so much easier.
I don't like that unlike my mobile from the early 00s, it doesn't come with a flash light app built in.

I do my best not to be a dinosaur, but it does get easier with every passing year.
I'm still waiting on the phone I want to go on sale.. it will be one that came out last year.. I haven't had a phone that new in a long time lol even though, it's not new-new anymore either.

Until 2017, I've always had a "dumb" flip phone. When I bought my car in 2017, I got a Samsung Galaxy S7 which barely fit in the car's Qi charger. Since then, phones have gotten larger and larger, to the point where they're considered "phablets." When Apple came out with the iPhone 12 mini last year, I bought one. So far, I'm NOT impressed! After the iOS 15 upgrade, I've had nothing but problems. Today, I found out that a good number of my contacts vanished into thin air...they're not in the cloud, either. GRRRRR!
I've spent a good portion of this evening trying to recover/recreate my contacts. Some will be lost for a little longer, since I didn't have them in Outlook on my laptop or in my landline handset's directory. (I have other means of recovering them.) It's a good thing that I've not allowed my phone to be the single point of failure in my life...as I can't rely on Apple's cloud.
