I don't know but the KonMari method of tidying and organizing is incredible. She has devised plans of how to turn disaster areas into clean and tidy sanctuaries. As one of the video shows.
Clutter and mess is a real problem for many families: just watch one of those videos and you'll see why. It is a real problem in society. Some people even have much more clutter than that. Hoarding is more common than you think and can be part of the person having a mental illness.
I must be going gaga
The problem with having millions of hobbies and interests in nearly everything is that you do accumulate lots and lots. Ideally something like a computer setup with perhaps lots of terabytes of memory would sort much of my information needs but it wouldn't sort 'hands on' work.
I am not a minimalist
( my bold) ...Nor me. But I think there is a difference between actual useful items that are part of a hobby and tat that people hoard for no reason.
My daughters MIL has a huge cabinet full of little glass animals, they are so crammed together that you can hardly make out where one ends and the other starts and she has a days work getting them out cleaning them and then putting them all back.
Its not extreme and its not dirty clutter but its not nice or decorative. I also collect glass but Im choosy about what I collect and recently re-sold 3 pieces so that I would have room for something better or more original. Knowing when to stop or when to de-clutter is also a huge part in keeping control on collections..
as long as you are not keeping empty paint tubes or brushes without hair I wouldnt worry!
