I took a break from the Chesapeake Shores book (since I'm on Season 2 of the show and not that interested in watching much else) and read the first half of a middle-grade Meg Cabot book (in the Princess Diaries world). Fun!
I have read The Hobbit, and LoR both. Both a good read, better so than the films. Actually, I thought the Hobbit was an awful film. But I am not surprised, they made a 9 hour film out of a very thin book.
I will be reading a book today. I have a few things to do first, but then I'll get on with it!
I did this today.
I read "Lincoln In The Bardo" by George Saunders: winner of the Man Booker Prize 2017.
I'm afraid I did not like this book. I can understand its appeal but it isn't for me. The chapters and paragraphs were too short. It went from character to character too quickly. I did not like some of the descriptions either. It is a very good book: for the right person. But that person isn't me.
I'd give this novel 4/10. I will certainly never read it again.

I am now reading "Call The Ambulance!" by Les Pringle.
It is a biography: and one I really like. So far I am liking it. It has a fun air about it: and isn't too factual, although it is not fiction. To be honest, I hadn't realized in the library it wasn't fiction, but I am enjoying reading it.
I will give my final review when I finish "Call The Ambulance!".

I finished the Princess Diaries book, plus the Chesapeake Shores Book 1. Both good reads, though some editing could have made the Chesapeake book a bit better and more appropriate to share with the family.
Last night, I went back to Harm's Way by David Mack, an original series Star Trek novel. I think I remember most of what was happening already, so I don't need to go backwards and can just resume. I have a few unfinished books lounging in my house...

I finished reading this today.
Utterly brilliant and about real life events. It was fun/graphic/sarcastic/genius/gruesome/quirky/honest.
I'd give "Call The Ambulance!" 10/10. It wasn't too long either: it was long enough for a book. It didn't waffle on about tragedies: it acknowledged bad situations but didn't dwell unhappily on them.
Les Pringle wrote about himself and his ambulance adventures. He's done a brilliant job. Go get yourself this book!

Last night I read "Bellman & Black: A Ghost Story" by Diane Setterfield.
It is - obviously - a story about the supernatural. It isn't a happy story in any regard. There is tragedy and horror. Bellman lives a wealthy life yet he has suffered incredible losses. He's a mix of sorrow and rage.

I finished a Star Trek novel (2022 release, I think) and then a new one arrived today! It comes out tomorrow and is called Lost to Eternity (by Greg Cox).
I've also gotten back to the Explorer Academy Vela book that my youngest hasn't yet read. He wanted some preview reading to be done, so he knows it's worth it!

My mum just gave me a box of Raeanne Thayne books to read, though I should probably finish the previously mentioned Trek novel and middle-grade novel first!

I'm going to borrow The Governess of Penwythe Hall (Sarah Ladd) because I've finished the Kindle sample and I think I'll enjoy the book. My mum has it, but was in the middle of reading it when she recommended it. Now I can pick it up next time I visit! She also has #2 in the series (a trilogy, perhaps?).
Meanwhile, I started reading a historical novel about King David. I'd actually seen a sponsored post about it on Facebook, and decided to check it out on Kindle.
I am now reading "The Perfect Affair" by Claire Dyer.
It is obviously a book for adults. I've only read two chapters so far, but it's a really good story. It'll pick up soon.
I'll post a review when I finish reading it in the next few days.
I finished reading this on Thursday. I LOVED it. A truly good read. It has a happy ending too, which I like. It was the ending I'd hoped there would be when reading the book.
A heartbreaking - yet hopeful - story about forbidden love and what people will do to maintain whom they shouldn't be with. Yet they do belong to their lover: they need to end their marriage that just does not go anywhere and be with their true love instead.
I finished a book this morning: The Governess of Penwythe Hall. It was good, and I thought the author (Sarah Ladd) did a great job with setting and characters.
I have the next in this trilogy also borrowed from my mum, so I'll likely start that tonight. There's not really a hurry, but I'd like to get to it faster than I do with my own books - this year, it seems I pick one up, read a bit, pick up another, read a bit... Until I have a stack of books on the go!

I've read two novels this week:
"The Secrets Sisters Keep" by Sinead Moriarty/family fiction "A Complicated Matter" by Anne Youngson/historical fiction
Both are brilliant stories. I'd give both 10/10. The second is about the Second World War and is easy to understand. If you like your history, you'll love "A Complicated Matter". But my favourite is the first. "The Secrets Sisters Keep" has drama and a warmth to it. It is a heartwarming story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and didn't want it to end.

I am now reading the family saga "Her Father's Daughter" by Cathy Mansell. It's pretty good so far. I'll definitely finish reading it in a few days time.
I do like my family sagas. I'll review the novel when I reach its end!

I finished the most recent Kimberley Rae Jordan book, and it was okay. Now I'm back to Book #2 of the Cornwall series by Sarah Ladd. Not really invested in the main characters. My mum did say she liked the third book best, so I could skip to that! (I liked the first a lot myself, so we'll see if I agree with my mum...)

I finished reading this novel. It is an excellent story and it had me captivated. It had a lot of twists and turns but ended happily. I found it heartwarming and dramatic. It has a sense of realism to it. I like the fact the characters weren't overboard and were written about by an brilliant writer. Cathy Mansell pulled off the story at a very high standard. I'd certainly advise you guys read it!

I've read both:
"The Peachgrowers' Almanac" by Elaine DiRollo "Grey In The Dark" by John Lincoln
They were both clever and entertaining. I'd give them a score of 7/10.
I write this because I would not read them again. BUT they are good books to read. Again, I'll only read them once but I am glad I took the time to read them both.
