I bought the mid week grocery top up yesterday. I also bought a fleecy pyjama top. Apart from trying it on when I got home it will probably be stored away until the autumn though but I like to buy some things when I see them, not when I am at the point when I have to and they are not around, at least in a style I like.
So obviously I need a car to go to work, my husband proposed a BMW 228I or an Audi A4. I don't need a highly mighty car because I only need it to go to work so either will be fine with me. My husband thinks the A4 is a little more compact so he prefers it but at the same time, he likes the interior of the 228I. I will leave it to him, I don't want to drive for another week so we will have a service to take me to work and back for 10 days or so.

I am now onto my fifth audi. You can take that as a recommendation.

I'm on my 2nd Buick, neither one new when I took ownership (although the current one only had one previous owner). Also recommended, though I know they're usually purchased by folks in their 60's or 70's! ("Granny cars," perhaps? I'm okay with that!)

Having lived in Germany, German relatives, toured the Mercedes factory, and familiarity with German engineering, I still wouldn't buy a German car. Compared to others, they appear to be over-engineered, and they're really expensive to maintain here. If money were no object, I might go for one, but probably not.

Coming from you Cherry, I will.
My grandma drove audis.. she usually just leased them and would switch to a new one every year because she had the means. The ones she would use were kind of small.. I remember having to sit in the back seat as a lanky pre-teen with long legs after a growth spurt, and it was hard to fit back there lol but for 1-2 people, it would be fine. My grandma was a tiny woman, so it suited her.
I have only ever owned hand-me-down cars that were pretty much broken down but my mechanic relatives were able to bring it back to life for me to use.

I think pre-owned cars have great value. Someone told me that the minute the car leaves the dealership, it is depreciated by 5-10% already.
We went car shopping today with my brother who owns both Audi and BMW. He and hubby think the BMW is more reliable so an order for the BMW has been placed.

The longest I have owned a car was a bmw. I did like that car a lot, very solid. My daughter has a bmw one series and really likes it.

imo you can't beat german cars.
I've never had an Aston Martin, Rolls or Bentley to compare but I suppose they are more up market. My experience with Toyota has been very good so far and they are, from what I understand, much cheaper on servicing. A BMW I had on loan for a while was very comfy and seemed good. I wouldn't say no to one I have looked at Volkswagen when buying a new car a few times but they have never felt comfortable. I have had friends who have had major engine / gearbox problems with them too (which reminds me of another who had an issue with a BMW Z3, I think, which even the main dealer wasn't able to sort). Those occurances probably happen with everything at times though.

Years ago we bought a BMW, I didnt like the attitude it got from other drivers. BMW drivers dont have a good rep here.
