A5 sketchpad, selection of graphite pencils, pencil sharpener and a rubber.
I couldn't find my old sketchpad, so the drawing I recently did of Heather's Avatar was done on an ordinary sheet of A4 copy paper.
I wasn't really satisfied with that result, so I guess I don't have any excuses now
As I went to the checkout in the stationery shop to pay for the goods I remembered I needed a rubber. I scooted back to the artists' supplies section and grabbed one. The rubber is essential. I would have been in trouble without that little gem

My stepdaughter does a lot of art with an ordinary pen. That errors cannot be rubbered is really impressive, to how good she is.

I visited London on a school trip back in 1983. Upon returning to the hotel lounge after a trip to Stratford Upon Avon, a group of us started working on our critiques of Julius Caesar, performed by the RSC. A man behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked if he could use my rubber. I almost decked him, but saw that he was pointing to my pencil. In American English, "rubber" has a very different meaning!

It has the same meaning here too but obviously depends on context

You know when your art is getting serious when you compare different sorts and have various types for different uses. It might seem like the height of laziness but these are actually very useful:

There is a thread here from way back discussing different meanings for words between different countries. It was interesting.
