It looks like I am getting a new boiler this year.
Just in time for Christmas?
I remember one time when I was still at school. We had a council house and the water was heated by a Rayburn (coke fire / cooker). As we were in hard water area the pipes furred up over time and the system started banging, which could get quite frightening as it was loud. That year they started a bit before Christmas and the council said that the cleaning out could not be done before Christmas. As the Rayburn was the only cooker we had dad told them that he would be using it for cooking the Christmas dinner and if the pipes blew then they would. Luckily they came as I could just imagine the racket from the pipes, and if they exploded it would have left a nasty mess.
I NEED a new boiler. The one I've got is from 1985. It's way too old to use anymore. It needs replacing urgently. I can't do anything without hot water: having a shower/cleaning/etc.
Yesterday I got my usual midweek shop plus a couple of items, a Christmas present for an auntie.
I was annoyed in Lidl (supermarket) as I was about to buy a tin of coffee at what appeared bargain terms when I noticed that their price, on the label, for 100g was half the price of the actual price. Ok - it happens, but I was less than impressed when the member of staff that I told informed me that he was doing nothing about it as it was not the main price stated, even though he agreed that it was wrong.
Just a reminder to keep a wary eye. From my experience, it happens in all supermarkets but at least in the older established ones they do act when an issue is pointed out to them. As it is misleading it is probably illegal. It would have been useful to have a camera handy so that I could record it and report to trading standards. Perhaps a good reason to have a camera phone?

Still trying to find really comfortable bras, since my size changed. (Down in the band! Yay!) I think I've got things sorted out and will find out when items arrive. I was able to give a couple extra to my mum that weren't big enough in the cup.
From some bargain pricing, I bought North & South recently (the BBC miniseries, not the 80's Civil War series LOL) and also What We Left Behind (Star Trek documentary) plus Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. And I've got the Director's Edition of Star Trek: The Motion Picture on the way. Good viewing ahead!
In-person shopping (what's that? LOL) will be done at the dollar stores soon for a few items the kiddos should enjoy unwrapping on Christmas morning. I have several family presents, too. (I guess that means I wanted to give myself presents and share them with the kids? Hee hee!)

Thanks! I haven't weighed often enough to see a difference on the scale, but the clothes are fitting better. I refuse to go up in clothing sizes just so I can keep eating bread and muffins all day long.
Has anyone ever bought, and built a model car? You know, the little plastic kits with glue and tins of paint.
I thought I might try it, and buy a car that always reminds me of fun times I had when I was young.
Just wondering if I need lots of skill.
I got curious as I advised a friend to buy one for her husband.
It was years ago with me. I was thinking about it yesterday myself when I was watching Bargain Hunt on the TV and a team bought some Airfix models. From what I remember they are just a little fiddly as some of the parts are small. I have not looked at the details of modern ones but the instructions are fairly good, from what I remember. It just helps if you have a good idea of what the finished model looks like as I found that there is always a part whose fit is not obvious.
A car which you once owned and worked on may well be ideal. You could even make a mdel of yourself to put inside
I bought some clothes from Walmart. I don't know....I'm thinking about switching what I normally do for time with Mom out shopping at places like CVS, Walmart, and Big Lots...like as an exclusive thing.

Well i did go grocery shopping and after $350 I am well stocked. Just about ready for Christmas.
You have to be careful with those walk in fridges in case you get trapped inside
Well not quite that big. To be honest I might have that capacity. We have our main fridge in the kitchen of course, another almost exactly the same in the garage and a stand alone freezer in the laundry room.
