There was some chat this morning about improving sleep patterns, but very little advice. The guy did say that you should go outside immediately on waking, that your body can recognise, and assimilate, daylight. It helps to regulate your body clock.

Annie you sound like me, I am getting four hours sleep at the most lately, often less.
Hi Karen, I have this old people problem, you are still young, you should have at least 7-8 hours a day.
Annie, I know should be getting more sleep but no matter what i have done it just doesn't happen. maybe it's time to see a sleep specialist. Oh, and by the way, you are not old....
I had a lovely long walk this morning while the sun was out. As the ground was frozen I took advantage and went out across the fields. I haven't been for weeks but, from the ruts, it was obvious that others have and probably got very muddy. There are good and bad points about sub zero temperatures lol

I got up today at 11am. I had a wonderful night's sleep and felt fully rested. I just cannot function without sleep. Plus, sleep protects my eyes from damage.

I admit I prefer clear and cold over mild and wet.. Sometimes here when the wind doesn't blow and the weather is clear even walking in temperatures of - 6 or 7 can be absolutely joyous.
My godson has cancer since Nov 2020. He supposed to have transplant in December. I have been trying to call him, text him all day. I am so worried right now.

My thoughts are with you. I hope things are going well. With the current issues many operations have beeen delayed here.

Well I thought I heard gunshots last night... There was a rapid bang bang bang outside and then the dog went crazy. I calmed him down and when I looked outside there was nothing except a young scooter rider who was brushing himself down and looking around in a bit of confusion.
Soon his mates turned up and after much milling about picking up of small objects from the road and discussions they all left..
This morning we looked at the camera images and they show that the young man went past our front door like a rocket. there is a small kink in the road at the corner which he missed completly he hit the kerb went somersaulting across the road and landed outside the house opposite where he picked up the scooter from its landing place which is when I saw him .
He is lucky to be alive, he had no helmet , no protective clothing not even a big coat just jeans and a sweater. I wonder if he will even realise how close to death he was, if a car had been coming, if he had hit his head on either kerb, been 6 inches to the right and hit the tree or flown a bit further and hit the neighbours garden wall it would have been game over... idiot.

My friend, Michael, got a permanent head injury from doing the same: except with a bicycle. He never got over what happened to him. This was in the 1960's, and he'd been a 14 year old lad. He just never forgot.
This is why I'd strongly advice people on the road - whether on a bike or scooter - wear a helmet and protective clothing. Because once your head hits that road, it's over. You'll have a head injury for the rest of your life.
Oh: I stabbed my toe last night: I was cutting my toenails and the scissors slipped. There was a fair bit of blood. I was not happy with myself! Hopefully, it has healed now.

The way kids believe they are invulnerable......
Every summer you see them whizzing around on scooters with Tshirt and shorts..... Have they never heard of gravel rash?
When my boys turned 16 they each got a motor scooter. They were told they had to wear leather jacket and full face helmet always . They were told if they messed about didnt wear helmets or drove with a beer inside them I would take the bike to the crusher and make them push the button.
The eldest is nearly 40 they younger 37 both have unblemished driving licenses. I hope I had a little bit to do with that . Nowadays discipline seems to be a dirty word.

I had a motor bike as a student. That I was not killed is remarkable. My skill level was so low.

I rode a motor bike for some years. I didn't like cars much as I don't like traffic and being held up by it. I don't comment on my skill level, leaving others to judge; just to say that I do remember a few times when things could have turned out badly. Some friends and aquaintances that I knew at the time were not so lucky.

I remember in my early 20's selling my tropical fish tank. The woman had offered me an extra £5 to deliver it. When I got there, I found out it was for her son. He was my age and sat in his wheelchair, with paralysed legs from a motorbike accident. He was my age.
All these years later, he will still be in a wheelchair.

I had forgotten about him.
I could quote similar as I met a few (patients) through work, both car and motor bike accidents. When they get to that position their life expectancy is often not good as living in a wheelchair needs good exercise / physio to keep the body from deteriorating. From latter day experience I suppose I can even joke about some of the nasty accidents that some friends had, involving pins in legs and things, from which they recovered for normal life, knowing that some ended up far worse. Even my brother was in hospital for a long while after a motorbike accident. That was the last time he ever rode one. He came out of it with a slight limp but is otherwise Ok. It was years ago, in his teens or therabouts.
Still, this is getting morbid. Perhaps best left in the past

Not morbid but it is a fact generally speaking bikers are about 30 times more likely to be injured than a car driver in an accident. OH has had several accidents in his time. He didnt drive a bike for a while when the kids were young because of this. One time he stopped at a roundabout and the woman behind him didnt she shoved the bike from under him straight under a lorry, he was sat on her bonnet safe and well but the bike was a write off. Another was a drunk driver who hit him going down the A3 to Guildford.. OH pushed the bike away and rolled, luckily the driver behind was quick to react slowed hit the hazzard lights and stopped all following traffic.
But it was a silly slow speed incident that made him give up.. He forgot to put his foot down at a traffic light and fell over..That was it.
He always said you have to have quick reactions and get rid of the bike in a fall he lost his cousin because the boy held onto the bike and got pinned down OH wasnt going to let that be his downfall.

I had the winter wheels put on the car and managed to wash it before the cold front came. Unfortunately, I dried only half the roof before I dropped the chamois on the ground. GRRRRR!!! By then, it started to get cold and breezy, so I drove home and vacuumed the trunk with my shop vac instead of using the one at the car wash.

Do you have a legal requirement for winter wheels?
We in the Netherlands dont, which is daft even though its flat people spin off into ditches and canals all the time in winter but also all the countries that surround us Germany France Belgium and Denmark have legal requirments, most places its from November 1st until March 1st but I know in Germany the law requires winter tyres during adverse winter weather. So if the snow falls early or late youre expected to have those winter tyres ready.
They also cant be the all weather tyres they must be specific winter ones.
