Wow 20... My sister in laws dog Cyril lived until he was 20 but I have never been that lucky.
At 20 its a case of treat them as if every day is a birthday and Christmas and summer holiday cherish each moment and enjoy them.
And as my vet used to say treatment has to be whats in the best interest of the dog not the owner. So never mind what we want its all down to what they can cope with...

hugs..
For sure! It is stressful wondering when her time will come because it really can happen at any moment... and any time something goes wrong, it's hard not to think the worst case scenario is about to happen.
Over here.. it seems they just recommend pets be put down if they become more work... I would never unless she was suffering, no matter how difficult she is to care for. Our lives basically revolve around her.
She seems mostly blissfully unaware still to me, though.. so that's a plus.... She still loves food, but we have to spoon feed her... We bought soft baby spoons for her so it wouldn't hurt her teeth. When she whines, my SO just lets her sleep on his chest.. it calms her. She will always be babied by us

I can very much understand the love of animals: I have always loved pets. I had two dogs growing up: Kim and Jenny. They were wonderful. I also love cats: although I never have owned one. I just dote on the three cats that visit my dad's house everyday. There are three of them: Tiddler, Elizabeth and Conan. They are very affectionate animals and worth me spending time with.

It is what you do for them.
We used to discuss our dog's health/illness/quality of life/age and that cost would have to be considered against all the variables. But when we got told that she needed surgery, we just said "yes"! without asking the price.
Well it's Football Sunday but we all agreed that we are cutting back in face of the new variant. Today it will be just myself, my husband and one couple that we are so close too we might as well be living in the same house. All vaccinated and boosted too. It won't be the same but it will be much safer.

Thanks Cherry.. I think I need to have a nice day with all this pandemic news lately.
We had a bit of a family gathering yesterday, visiting my son and grandaughter for her birthday, and Christmas. I thought there may be other visitors but his wifes parents and grandmother came too. Age range three to around 100! I know it is a bit risky but it was so nice to see people again after so long. The only one who was ill was my grandaughter who has had one cold after another for the past few weeks but she was happy and cheeful. That made my day
I have been good I did my ironing yesterday and Ive been out walked the dogs and visited the cheese shop on the way home..
Normal cheese plus a pound of cheese with herbs and olives from a farm not 10 miles away. We see the cows when we walk the dogs nearby.. A lovely fresh bit of brie (full fat none of that skinny rubbish) and a bit of mature old cheese for nibbling with a glass of wine while sitting back and watching tv...

Me too, a_muppet!
This is the list of all the cleaning I've done today:
1. Cleaned my bathroom 2. Cleaned my kitchen 3. Put on a load of laundry 4. Cleaned all my lounge tables 5. Dusted 6. Aired out my apartment 7. Cleaned my fridge 8. Cleaned & sorted my kitchen cupboards
Tomorrow I will be cleaning the skirting boards and hoovering. I keep busy!
My new credit card arrived today, hooray! I already like it better.. my old one stopped sending texts saying the amounts being charged, it switched to just giving a generic message that I was charged hours later, which isn't very helpful if trying to spot suspicious activity ASAP. The new one was instant and said the amount.
I also now can use virtual cards online, which my other one didn't offer; it creates a new virtual card for each site, and I can just delete/lock it if anyone tries to use it instead of needing a whole new card... but if I do need a new card, all my virtual cards will automatically be linked to the new one, too... I'm pretty excited lol
The only negative thing temporarily is that I can't install the mobile app because my phone is too old xD But I plan on upgrading my phone by next month as a holiday/birthday present using some of the money I receive from my family to go toward it, and then I'll be able to use a mobile app for my credit card.

That sounds like an al singing all dancing wonder.

The virtual cards seems like a good idea. It does more readily give the card company a better insight as to where / when a card was hacked, which hopefully will never happen. I haven't heard of them here.

I steer well clear of credit cards: they're dangerous. When I had one it made me believe I had money when I didn't: I was simply borrowing the money from the credit card company. Thankfully I was able to pay them back. But - after that - I never purchased another credit card again. I'll use my debit card and PayPal: but never the credit card.

That is a down side to credit, but used properly, they can save you a lot of worry, and grief.

I've never missed a payment, and yet I get cashback rewards, so I make money off of them instead of the other way around
It can be risky if one doesn't pay attention and accidentally starts buying too many things outside of their budget, though.

Exactly, because I pay off the bills completely when they come in I get "payed" for using my card with the cash back benefit.

I don't use the card for something I can't otherwise pay cash. I've never paid credit card interest. Last year, I received nearly $950 cash back because I spent more than usual. Normally, it's around $500-$600 per year. This year will be less, but still happens to be more than what I earned in interest for the same amount in a savings account.
So, yeah, they pay me to use their card.
