We had a low key day today. We drove by the house, the workers were tiling the bathroom, I got the measurement for the dining area then we came home, watched a PBS serie about Coca-cola and Pepsi, then National Biscuit company, the Jane the Virgin.
Spent all day up until about four hours ago finishing an assignment for uni. Am now working on the planning for a new fanfic I'm planning to start writing next month.

You're right, kjay: it never ends.
But if I want to live without bugs and piles of rubbish bags and dirty crockery, I have no choice. It isn't an interesting subject, though.
Anyhow, this morning I have finished writing my tribute poem to the band, Manic Street Preachers. It took a fair while to write. But was well worth every moment.
Yesterday I helped Andrea with her [our] refurbished clinic. We put up a towel dispenser, and an apron dispenser. There was also a curtain to go up, and a few bits of paint to be touched up.
We were also double checking that there was room for us both to work.
First thing this morning it was out with the charity bag for collection today. Early yesterday I thought I had nothing to go, then later on when looking for a book I found an old coat which was still good but had been around a while and not for me now, then on to quite a few other things and in no time I had the best part of a bag. Where does it all come from lol

Good on you for giving to charity!
I often donate money to various charities. Not to get praise but to give back to the community. I like being generous and helping out others. You're of the same mind jen, I reckon. Because there are problems in the world. No one can fix them alone, but we can assist. But no: I am not endorsing any charity. If think anyone who does donate to charity - or even volunteer for a charity - has the right to pick and choose for themselves as to whom they donate to.
Definitely pick and choose charities with care. And don't feel guilty for not being able to help everyone. If you're doing your best, that is what matters.
Ive chosen 4 charities 2animal 2 human and those are the only ones I give to.
Im not mean but many big charitable organizations have CEOs who gobble up huge saleries that come from our hard earned money.. The ones I donate to are run by volunteers and send a finacial newsletter every year so we can see where the money has gone.

I have been sorting out clothes, ornaments, and furniture for the charity shops, but they seem full just now...

I tend to prefer animal charities. I particularly support our local dog charity.

My Amazon purchases donate to the The Nature Conservancy.
The house I sold last year was right in front of a creek of about 7 miles long. I ran on the trail along that creek all the time. One winter two years ago, there was a 20ish girl drove into the creek after an evening of drinking, they found her body a week later. During that week, everytime I went up or downstairs which had a direct view to the lake, I was afraid I would see her floating on top of the water or her body would land right in front of my house.

I agree with you on this. Whenever practical I prefer to work rather than give money. I also think that charities usually start off with good intent but as time goes on they too large and spend a lesser proportion of their income where it helps.Obviously some really need to be large to operate efficiently internationally but there are so many now and they are poorly regulated.

International charities are another black hole. One notable one provided tractors, lovely Massey Ferguson tractors to an African country. But they were left to rot in a barn because a none of the people there had driving licences or the knowledge how to drive them and it was then discovered that if you give the tractor to one group another group would be angry because they didn't have one and this could result in local fighting. One of my Dutch teachers was one of those people who knitted blankets back in the 1970s all those little squares that we sold together her husband worked on a boat and he and his crew gave up their holiday and sailed to Africa with loads of clothes and blankets for the people there who were in some kind of disaster. They were met at the quayside by officials who shook their hands and thank them for this wonderful relief that they had sent to their poor striken country. However once the goods have been offloaded and signed for by local authorities trucks turned up and an auction was held selling off the charitable donations to the highest bidder he forbade his wife to ever give anything to a foreign charity again.
The biafra conflict is estimated to have lasted an extra 18 months with thousands and thousands of deaths simply because of aid that was sent, instead of the aid getting to refugee camps aid workers found themselves having to feed soldiers and rebels first or risk being killed this allowed them to carry on fighting and far from saving the situation it made matters worse. More recently in Haiti hey that was sent simply never arrived and after the tsunami in Indonesia aid was sent but people were asked to provide receipts/ deeds/ paperwork... Stuff that was laying at the bottom of the ocean and because they couldn't produce it they couldn't get access to the money that we had sent for them..
So I make sure that the charities I donate to are local they are accountable and they are are transparent.

That's shocking, cassie. You just assume once you donate - whether items or money - to charity, it just gets there. Evidently not.
My sister works for an accountants and what she's seen has stopped her giving to charity. She knows how they work and won't play ball. I do feel, however, there are legitimate charities. Like Crisis, Children In Need, NSPCC, Water Aid, Guide Dogs For The Blind and the Samaritans. There are others, but these are the main ones.
Charities are important, but it helps to be informed.
Our local Cats Protection charity shop was closed recently. I knew the manageress well as we were fellow scots in exile.
It was closed down much against the wishes of the volunteers, as it was not big enough to be re-branded in the corporate fashion of the rest of them.
She was quite a fierce lady and she had the area manager down, and told him "We don't care about corporate plans, or whatever, we are just here to find money to support local cats and kittens!"
Good sentiment, but too naive in this current world.
She should have told him "This is the outgoing, this is the income." But I guess they already knew that.
So it shut down and we now have yet another hairdresser on our high st. How many nail bars and hair dressers do we need?

Local Cats Protection charity shop?
14.9 miles and 32 minutes away.
I heard last night that a local drop in /office for local aid ( home helps /advice on wheelchairs /medical aids etc) is closing in its place a hairdresser... bang opposite my own hairdresser and not 2 minutes walk from two others...

I think that there are more hairdressers in my locality than all the other shops put together. When mine retired her shop was snapped up. In the middle of lockdown though? You can imagine what happened. It is now for sale again. I am not sure how cat's protection works locally. It is more 'animal welfare' though so probably a completely different organisation.

It is Saturday and I am up and about. I am airing out my apartment and have on a load of laundry. I have also eaten my breakfast and shall have lunch soon.
It is a gorgeous summer day and I am looking forward to going out for a walk.
Walk with the dogs that was almost a swim.. Oh my it has rained hard, Then two lots of washing, baked two loaves of bread and tided up.. Ordered some things we need to finish our decorating and kept an eye on the drains as the road outside started to flood....
Its gone down now so I can start the dishwasher and go to see my elderly friend I picked up some fruit for her this morning.
Doing what I usually do on my weekends off. Paying bills...getting groceries...dealing with the wash. I pulled some hamburger meat out to defrost so I can make sloppy joes tomorrow. I'm having a blueberry bagel with peanut butter and coffee.
Trying to decide if I wanna read or play video games or both. Just chillin on my 3 day weekend in my PJs.
