I will have lunch with my girlfriend today. I will get to hear about her new exciting project. She is the lead architect in a new real estate project of a big tech firm.
I haven't much planned for today either. Art group was good yesterday but I pulled my back earlier in the day and what with other frustrationg things I ended up being very tired. I need to relax.
Except for routine plant maintenance, artwork and the cooking and some cleaning I had a quiet day. The weather was poor so I didn't get out for a walk. It looks better today so I will hopefully get out over the fields on the way to the chippy.

I couldn't sleep, so I got up and wrote two new poems. I also drank my morning coffee and ate my cereal. I am listening to Mariah Carey's album "Rainbow" too.
I am browsing online and shall watch YouTube shortly.

We have just got back from a lovely hack in the Forest
We set out at 5.30am and stayed a couple of hours.
Early morning rides in the forest offer a rejuvenating experience for both body and mind. The fresh, crisp air and the gentle exercise of horseback riding can invigorate the senses and promote a sense of well-being.
This is the time of day for the Dawn Chorus, so when the birds are singing all around you it is a truly joyful experience.
It is not often we can go out riding this early. During our working week there just isn't enough time. Weekends give us this opportunity
We were also out and about quite early, we headed to the nature reserve and spent a couple of hours with the dragonflies who have just hatched, they sit in sunny spots airing their wings before taking off and flying about in masses that rustle like tissue paper. Most were broad bodied chasers and large hawker dragonflies but we have see some southern hawkers. hearing the birds is nice but the cuckoo is annoying in that he calls from very close by but its so hard to get a glimpse, we also heard the bittern calling that boom cant be mistaken for anything else.. Sadly the number of geese expands every year and they are forcing out native species so the merganzers swans and grebes are much less common and the egrets are now rare simply due to the more agressive and noisy geese.

Butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies are my favourite insects to look at and photograph
Photographing them though is quite tricky. We have had some amusing and frustrating occasions chasing them around the Forest trying to photograph them once they have settled on a bush. It is usually Sophia who is laughing at my antics running around like someone demented.
When you actually catch the moment you want then that is what makes it all worthwhile
Cuckoos...... - the amount of time I have spent following the call of a Cuckoo each year in the Forest trying to get a photograph is unreal. I have managed to see the odd one or two on separate occasions through my binoculars, but they are at the tops of trees shrouded in foliage. I have never got a photograph of one though
I have never heard or seen a Bittern, so you were lucky Cassie to hear one.

I am always very supportive of Vanessa and we have a great time out in the Forest photographing wildlife.
I love to watch her chasing the insects about and she gets frustrated at herself for not getting the shots she wants, so it is not me she gets frustrated with. She gets her own back on me for laughing at her later on when we get back home (I won't tell you how she does that though )

That sounds wonderful, ButterflyMaiden.
I love being in the woods. Nature photography is a good skill to have: you do both sound like you're passionate about horse riding and nature. Insects are also amazing and can actually be really beautiful. Not just butterflies but bees and dragonflies.

I really would like to see some photos!
I have a selection of nature photos on my Flickr Photostream, which can be viewed on the link below if you wish....
The Photostream is currently set to Public, but I think I will have to change it to Private and provide 'Guest Passes' to any of our Forum members who would like one. Apparently, a Flickr account is not required to view them then.

I've never had a Flickr account, but my Photobucket account allows for copying/pasting hot links into forums for individual photos. I created that account specifically for that purpose years ago. I just now signed into it for the first time in ages, to verify my previous statement, and I was met with a "paywall." Apparently, they no longer offer free accounts. But I did access my account on a "trial" subscription so that I could download an archive of the 200 or so photos I had there...then, I deleted it.
You can use the methods described in another thread to post hotlinks as well, via imgur or postimage.

I did try to set up an account with imgur just after I joined the Forum, but apparently they don't allow UK to join.
I then came across Flickr who offer an upload of 1,000 photos on their FREE account, which is more than I need at the moment. After that you can pay a small subscription to upload more.

Hmm... A while ago, it was mentioned that one would now need to open an imgur account to upload images. I just uploaded the following video without an account...
My original upload, saved on my laptop, was .43 seconds over the 60-second max. Imgur didn't complain about it two years ago, but it did today. I had to shorten it some more.

I am not familiar with postimage.
Weird, we have people in the UK that were using imgur without an issue, but I wouldn't know of any more recent changes.
Any site will do, but not all will allow the images to show up in the post if pasting it directly is all. My SO helped make imgur links show as an image instead of a link without having to upload Just for convenience, but there is a link insertion option within the posts that may embed images otherwise.
