Its Murphys birthday tommorow hes going to be 5...Five years have gone past already ....I can hardly believe it.
Anyway I always bake cakes for the dogs on their birthday they have so few.... So cakes, laundry, lunch, shopping lists from the old people, dinner, walking the dogs again and balloon.. thats my list for today ( Ive already hoovered)
My darling husband is planning the weekend so we will have something to look forward to. This weekend, we will trying out a new restaurant with friends. Next weekend, we will be in San Francisco for two nights and do this:
A nice modern way to view art. There's an exhibition here that's very similar with MC Escher works it allows people to actually stand in the pictures be part of the artwork and get a fully submersive idea of just what is going on in the painting. We also have the luna exhibition each autumn. During that time famous works of art are projected onto the walls of buildings in the city amazing how many people will go and look at that but would never set foot in an art gallery.

Apparently they are still contesting the closure of our art gallery hare in Lincoln. The paintings were to be moved to a new building but it's sometimes as much about the place a painting is displayed in as the actual painting itself. I am not a fan of modern art galleries for old paintings. artuk.org/visit/venues/usher-gallery-3366

The Usher has closed?
That's a blow.
I liked that gallery. I have pictures of me near those big stone balls. What happened to them?

To be honest I haven't been into the town centre proper for over a year now so have not been anywhere near the Usher. It was not planned to totally close it, just change it's function so it would pay for itself. All to do with cost cutting, as usual. Next time I go in I will check it out. I hope to later this summer but I hate this mask thing so much that I tend to avoid going as there is no pleasure anymore. There is seldom any essential need to go into the city centre anymore although I do miss looking around the gallery and visiting niche shops.

I agree with you on this point our old town museum was in a wonderful old building which had as much charm as the exhibits.. Then someone left a few million in a will providing a new museum was built on the town square ,,, a dodgy vote was held and pushed through now the museum is this awful souless box.
Yes its wheelchair accessable but its like walking round a factory its concrete steel and glass... There isnt anything nice to say about it. First picture the new building second the old one ( now appartments) I know which I prefer

They were planning to move the paintings to the newer museum, I think, but the old gallery still appears to be open at the moment, although with reduced hours / days. There has been a huge outcry about closure so I think that it may be posponed at least. This is the link to the main site which does have shots of the newer museum and details for both: www.thecollectionmuseum.com/hire-us/photography-360
Your old building really does look more the part. Modern cities may be Ok but there is something to be said in keeping older parts, particularly for older things. It helps tourism too hence a city economy in these times of dwindling shops.
It's 5:45 a.m. and Ive woken up to the sound of gurgling water.
It's one of those sounds that gets you up immediately like when the dog starts to honk. It's been raining heavily in the night and the street has started to flood the water is rising in our toilets and the gurgling was coming from the waste in the wash basin. So it's all hands on deck to make sure nothing else gurgles rises or overflows.

Time to head up to my room to read for maximum sleepiness, but I've had the living room as my domain for most of the day. Worked on a challenging puzzle (from Cobble Hill) and did some library volunteering while waiting to see if anyone would show for the Saturday Zoom. Nope! (Anyone who's available in two weeks for a Saturday 10 am PST chat, I can get you the link!) I also spiffed up my resume and applied for two remote jobs with the same realty company, though I'd love to have a reason to move to the location listed: Victoria, BC.
Still too smoky to open the windows for the night, so we'll start up the AC again sometime tomorrow for cooling as well as filtering the air. I'm thinking I'll probably not be sticking around long tomorrow at the church BBQ - just put in an appearance and then get back to hibernating indoors at home, where I don't need a mask. (Uptick in Covid cases here because masks are now just recommended rather than required. Not sure if the Delta variant is a factor.)
Yesterday's visit to mum was a bit busy. I had to finish defrosting the fridge. No-one really visits for more than an hour at a time and so the fridge never gets defrosted. The result being that the ice box fills with ice then jams the defrost water tray. All is Ok until the hot weather when the insulation of the thick ice means that the outer surface thaws and the kitchen floor gets wet. Armed with my hair dryer the fridge is now finally clear so all we need to do is plan a defrost regime between us. My brother, sister and myself.
The day just gets crazier. We walked the dogs in pouring rain because it wasnt stopping and the dogs needed to go out. As we came home there was a group of people standing on the corner of the street with umbrellas all holding gifts and flowers. Crazy at 8.45 on a Sunday morning, then as we came inside we heard music....
It turns out my neighbour is 50 today and they have hired an old fashioned music organ to stand outside his house and serenade him! All his friends and family had gathered outside to surprise him.

It is the same routine today: shower/laundry/lunch.
But I am glad it isn't too hot: I don't like feeling sweaty. Oh: I've sorted some doctor's medication and am just browsing the Internet. I simply could not live without YouTube or Facebook!

We stripped the bedroom today.. So for the next week or so we will be living in the spare room.
It will be nice when its finshed new carpet and fresh paint plus I have new bedding and new pretty curtains for the bed.. ( I have a four poster) as well as a new headboard.
But while we are doing all the work its hot , its sweaty and its messy...

We have spent the weekend clearing out the summer house. We have decided we either use it or knock it down. It can't be a junk store, or a garden shed.
