Well he is a spanner in the works it's October.... The nights are drawing in and it's colder so each evening before bed instead of tea or coffee I drink a cup of hot chocolate made with milk.

I'm not much of a milk-drinker, unless I'm finishing off the last couple of ounces of a container I used for a recipe. My usual/preferred dairy intake is nonfat Greek yogurt.

cow's milk is almost unheard of around these parts. we have 900 alternative milks though. personally i like almond, hemp, or cashew milk for my milk needs but in coffee and tea i usually use heavy cream because i like the creaminess without the extra wateriness.

We have this little handheld mixer thing (can't remember what it's called) that we use in hot milk to make it both frothy and silky.. it's almost like we turn it into a thinner cream.. but cream really is nice in drinks... it's just I don't always have a purpose for it, so it would be a waste to buy it, forget about it, and then have to toss the rest.. I stick with milk because we use it regularly.
I cant drink soja and lots of the other plant based 'milks' are higher in sugars and carbs or things that are bad for either me or OH..
So semi skimmed lactose free it is.
The lactose free milks I buy seem to have more sugar in them than whole milk. We're limited in options, so I just buy what's available, but I have noticed it.

You're right I don't take sugar and some of those milks are horribly sweet but we have one here that is non sweetened.

The lactose-free milk should taste sweeter because the lactose is already broken down. If I have my understanding correct on it - I used to try taking the lactase enzyme before eating some dairy products. Not sure if it helped much, though.
We stick with plant-based options for our milk because of the issue with cow's milk. One of my sisters had soy formula when she was a babe, and so did my oldest boy. No surprise that we still have problems nowadays. Makes me grateful for the selection of dairy alternatives we now have.
And guess who had a pumpkin spice latte this evening? Found a box of decaf pumpkin spice tea a couple days ago, and now that store display is all Christmas teas. (Already!)
We have been drinking tea again more lately.. We have so many different ones that we don't even remember if we like them or not.. so we're going through them all and tossing the ones we're not as fond of just to clean up... but also to find out which are our ultimate favorites and just continue to buy those instead of having so many we don't care for taking up space in our tea box.... we pretty much can't close the top all the way there's so many lol

Heather you sound exactly like my friend. She has so many different types of tea in her tea box and I know she doesn't drink half of them.
One tea box wouldn't work for me - I have a little shelf set up so that I can have tea boxes below and on top, and see all the wonderful flavours. (Extras fit in a spot below, where we keep our rarely used cookbooks and our placemats, too, but when I buy even more, I have to find another stashing spot!)
I do have favourites, though. Lately it's the mandarin tea in the morning and chamomile in the evening, with cherry or lemon if I have time for another pot between. And sometimes a latte made with rooibos or decaf green.
I found more of the pumpkin spice tea (which goes well with caramel syrup, btw) so I have plenty till next fall. LOL It's black tea, so it might be interfering with sleep patterns even though it's decaf. I'll relegate it to the afternoons if I can. (I don't think there's a similar issue with decaf green, but I'll monitor that.)
