I just finished watching mog's christmas, and cried my eyes out at a cat who wouldn't get down off a rooff (I wish I wasn't so emotional about these things,) literally can't watch anything without crying at something
These days I rarely go to the movie theater. This past year I think I only went once.
But a new movie just opened today, Christmas day.
Now I never go to a movie because of an actor or a director. I have, however, avoided movies for those two reasons.
But this new Christmas time movie intrigues me; "The Boys in the Boat".
George Clooney directed and that fact was a bit of a turn-off for me. But then "Variety" panned it because of the boys' skin color (white).
The movie has to do with the 1936 Olympics and Hitler.
Long story short: Theater time! (Hopefully I'm making a good choice.)
You sound like me. Hardly ever go to the movies, but I had too when downton abby (the first movie came out). I couldn't wat for A dvd release, I love that show so much

I watched Scrooged on the weekend and liked it, though I don't think I need to see it every year. And on Friday I watched Die Hard after not seeing it for years. It was fairly good for an action movie (and yes, lots of Christmas references in it, so I'll count it as a Christmas movie, just not the comfy-cozy family kind).
Watched Christmas specials last night. I'd give Doctor Who a "meh" rating this time, and thumbs-up for Call the Midwife.
Probably going to finish my Lord of the Rings extended trilogy viewing on New Year's, and I have a few other Christmas movies I could sneak in here and there. (I'm okay with watching them any time, especially if December is busy enough not to get to them all!)
I did watch the old film "Dr Who and the Daleks", or rather heard it as I was preparing lunch at the time, on Christmas day, but I didn't see the new episode. I may look sometime but I have no enthusiasm. I have watched little really but did like the animated "Tabby McTat" and "Mog's Christmas". It's been a feline Christmas this year

I loved mog's Christmas too
The song was nice as well, and to be honest, I'm not really a fan of hers- so it was a pleasant surprise to hear a song of hers I liked

Well I went to the theater and saw “The Boys in the Boat”, the American rowing team that took part in the 1936 (Hitler) Olympics.
It’s a good movie, wholesome and thoroughly American. It isn’t the best movie I’ve ever seen, the character development could have been better although I’m not sure how. “The Boys in the Boat” wasn’t even the best sports movie I’ve seen. “Miracle”, I think, was better, the amazing story of the 1980 American hockey team beating the Soviets for the gold medal.
But there is something exhilarating about sports and that makes this movie worthwhile.
To me, the best line of the movie is when a youngster asks his grand dad; did you like being one of the eight? He responds; we were never eight…we were one. And that to me is the message of sports. It's a good one.
Saturday, I was reminded of what I disliked about the movie theater experience...the nauseating stench of fake butter that hits me like a brick upon entering the lobby and how it permeates the entire multiplex.

I missed my Maigret on Tuesday night, it being confused with Christmas. Luckily "Talking Pictures TV" has a catch up, so I watched it last night.
Jen, thats a new one to me. What is it?
It's a TV channel over here on which they play old TV movies and shows. It's often very dated, even for me, but there are a few intersting things: Talking Pictures
