I love that we have a channel here that brings in British and European shows (knowledge.ca). I'm not used to having to watch the screen all the time during a show, though - I need to see the subtitles when they switch from English to Finnish to Kurdish. I can handle when they occasionally slip in some French, and a little bit of Spanish too! The plot is what keeps me watching, so it's worth not getting in time with the puzzle while watching TV!

I am a bit the same with French. Last night I watched a French Maiget. It had subtiles but I have been watching them once a week now for quite a while. Some French phases are now so recognisable that the subtitles are almost irritating as I understand the French. I haven't got to the stage where I could fully understand without them though, at least not at the pace of normal speech.
Still making our way through Glitch. It is one of those shows where you can't fully guess what is going on because.. well.. it's sci-fi lol I don't know what direction it's going in with some of it.
About to watch the good ship murder, I'm on episode 3 now
Emily, is it any good?
Im always on the lookout for decent English shows. OH is finding accents more difficult these days..
One thing I have to say about it is that it isn't what I expected.
When I first tuned in, I thought it was going to be a weekly continuing story. It's not.
It's basically about a cruise ship, and each week, it docks in another country. One person gets murdered on the ship, and the rest of the crew have to work out who did it.
Each week there are Different passengers on the ship, so the murders are not even connected. I don't know... if you're looking for a quick murder mystery to kill some time, It's perfect. It's an hour long, and each week is a different story
If you want something with regular characters, an ongoing plot and edge of your seat moments, I wouldn't suggest it.

Thanks , actually my husband finds it difficult to follow an ongoing story so this sounds perfect. Regular people and a story that gets rounded off each time is exactly what he needs.

I'm on Season 3 of Call the Midwife as I borrow from the library and watch all over again, and I've watched Dance Academy from Tubi afterwards, for something a bit lighter. Good combo, actually! One is British and the other Australian, so accents all around!
When I watch Star Trek on Thursdays, I pair whatever show has been new (which is almost done for quite some time) with an episode of TNG (Season 2 lately) and that's also a good combo! Next week it'll be Enterprise Season 4 and TNG, so I'm looking forward to that!

Have you thought of Hill st Blues re-run?
The first season was long running themes, but after that each episode had one story completed, and also a long runner in the background.

I hadn't , Im not sure if he liked that or if the accent will work with him. Its weird how he just can't understand some accents and other much complicated ones are fine.

I finished Season 3 of Call the Midwife last night! There's one special feature with this season, then it's back to the library and I'll get Season 4.
Also, my replacement disc for Picard Season 3 came in the mail today - there were some special effects missing from one of the episodes apparently, so you could ask for a disc with the correct version. Cool! Should watch that season again, and then Season 2 of Strange New Worlds will be here in December. (I've still got it on the PVR, but it would be nice without TV commercial breaks. Plus all those special features I enjoy!)

Hullraisers. Episode 1 was brilliantly funny. I don't remember what it was now, but someone said something and that comment kept me laughing right the way through to the end

I haven't seen that, but I have regularly been to Hull, it's where I used to go dancing weekly, and they are really lovely people. Warm and friendly.

?? One of the better parts I presume. Look North on the BBC usually presents all kinds of problems. The only thing I remember from when I last went and visited "The Deep" plus had a meal was returning to the multi storey car park, not realising that it was locked after a certain (early) time, and just catching the attendant as he was about to lock up. I escaped At some point I did visit the hospital, professionally, and found it friendly enough. It's a city though, and I seldom find them as friendly as the smaller towns or more rural areas.

There are a lot of galleries and museums, usually free. The Wilberforce museum was particularly good.

I saw The Marvels yesterday! liked it a lot because of Ms Marvel, but Captain Marvel was also one of my favourite MCU movies already (along with Black Panther and Iron Man).
