We ditched Netflix and Disney last year as well as our extensive cable package. We now have an internet tv subscription which gives us loads of channels that we dont watch but lots of great tv shows and films which we prefer.
I have just basic tv 26 channels and we dont even watch all of them.
I won't bother with Netlflix or Disney either. In fact, I don't even have much time for regular TV.
I stick to movies on YouTube: rather than DVDs. DVDs take up too much space and you only end up watching them once or twice. Plus, you have to wait for their delivery.
No: YouTube is best. Although you do have to register and create an account with YouTube.
Anybody else watch, "Apple Tree Yard"? If I recall correctly it is on Hulu and has only four episodes.
The plot concerns a rape and subsequent trial. It is cast well with decent dialogue.
It's OK, just curious what others think.
The lead actress also had the lead women's role in HBO's "Chernobyl". She has an interesting face.
I briefly re-watched Chernobyl over the weekend but it was just too dark for me then we went to see Jesus Revelation, it confirmed what I have always thought, people are using religion for personal gain.
Ive been watching Funny Woman , set in 1964 about a young woman from Blackpool who leaves and goes to London to 'find herself'and actually finds herself challenging many of the steryotypes of women and northerners... Its good funny and has a great underlying social historical thread.

I've heard of this TV series: it sounds brilliant! I shall check it out on YouTube.
I am afraid that, with my aversion to films with a high degree of intense drama, I actually avoid watching any film that does well with the Oscars, knowing that the film will make more of a show of the actor than the actual storyline. I am not keen of idols, and don't freak out over any movie star. They are, after all, just actors doing a days work like anyone else. The Oscars, and similar awards, are really for the 'trade'.
Im much like this with films and books too while they are being hyped to death I dont bother. I do love films with a story, rather than the constant fighting and blowing things up type of thing.
Ive also never understood the idolisation of actors or musicians. I had friends who camped out at Stings house.. I couldn't see the point myself.
Let's not forget he did have £10,000,000 "just go missing" a few years back, unbeknown to him.
Im watching Bank of Dave a nice British film ( no explosions) good story a few laughs and it stars Rory Kinnear who I knew when he was a baby, because my mum worked for Roy and Carmel his parents..

Everything Everywhere... is quite entertaining, good performances from the actors. I was pleased that it won several Oscars.
I should admit some bias: I love Michelle Yeoh in Star Trek, have been a fan of Ke Huy Quan since Goonies and Indiana Jones, think Jamie Lee Curtis is great too, and I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy as well. I suppose it was quite probable I'd be the target audience for this movie. If they'd written it for family viewing instead of just adults, it would be the perfect movie!

oh. ya know, not to sound rude or mean or anything but since i wasn't an eyewitness there's no way to know if this news is fake or not. i never know who to believe for sure so i don't pay much mind to that crap.
We'll be starting on Gotham tonight... we watched Dark Knight Rises after many years (third in the Batman trilogy) lol... which was the requirement my SO made for us to be able to start Gotham

I wasn't an eyewitness to Kennedy's assassination, either. That doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Nobody here is saying that you shouldn't watch or even enjoy Woody Allen films. I just enjoyed watching Match Point a couple of weeks ago. The marriage to his step-daughter is a matter of public record.

I must admit I am surprised woody allen has had such a successful career. No celeb in the uk has kept their career after criminal convictions over children. In fact one major celeb lost her career when she admitted that she knew of a paedophile and had kept quiet for fear of losing a career.

It can be difficult to separate the work from the person, especially once you know something they did or stood for that doesn't jive with your own beliefs. I would try evaluate the movies based on their own merit, but I might not be totally successful at that. So far, no movie by Woody Allen seemed to work for me, and I think that's based on the work itself...
I'm halfway through the A.D. series, still wishing they'd made it less violent. (I know the times were likely violent, but offscreen would be preferred and might have more impact.) I am looking forward to seeing Saul have his road-to-Damascus moment, though so far I think they picked the wrong actor for the part. Sigh.
I saw a list of 30 movies turning 30 this year and need to jot down the titles of the ones I'll rewatch. Groundhog Day and Mrs. Doubtfire are on the list, I remember that much. It'll be fun travelling back to the 90's...
Hubby and I are kinda doing that now. We just finished Ally McBeal. Neither of us had ever seen it when it first aired in the '90s.
I bought the series Northern Exposure from Amazon, but not exactly as first aired. Apparently, the great soundtrack is missing from it. That's okay, because I most remember the quirky characters. Hubby had never seen it. Ostensibly, the Canadian DVD set contains the soundtrack. It won't ever be available for streaming, since the music rights would be too expensive.
We also started watching The Practice. I remember enjoying it in the '90s (hubby never watched it), but I don't think I ever saw it through to the end.
