For the first time for a couple of years, at least, I watched the British Grand Prix on TV today. It was a good, if eventful, race but luckily no-one was badly injured. I am glad that they appear to have dropped the racist overtone content which overshod the event in past years. The commentary was a bit sanitised (political correctness) which was noticeable to me, particularly when I saw other news feeds afterwards but I would watch another so it is an improvement. As I don't get Sky, rollon next years event

I watched the Grand Prix too, jen: the crash was awful, though. I am glad the man walked away with only a few injuries. But it must've been terrifying.
Anyhow, I am watching "Charmed" on DVD again. I have an interest in witchcraft and find the television series fascinating!

I havent watched F1 for about 20 years. I used to get up in the middle of the night with my boys to watch it.
But it turned into a farce just a high speed game of follow the leader..I gave up.

For the most part thats how things went with me too although it was as much to do with the TV coverage being bought out by Sky as anything else. I haven't watched it for a few years although my stepson follows every race. He tracks down free live streaming on the internet. It was on ordinary TV at the weekends as the British race so I watched it. As Candy mentions, there was a massive crash just after the start which stopped the race and then there was a lot of activity after it was re-started. I was somewhat disappointed with the commentary though. I think they have really lost the plot and just going through the motions. Murray Walker was kn a league of his own, even when he got it wrong.
I live a few miles away from Silverstone, would you believe: yes, really.
It is a small market town and Silverstone is a short drive away.
We used to live near Kettering. Also not so far away. We didnt go to F1 but we did go to other race days there it was a great day out..
I have never been to Silverstone, only driven past it once. Cadwell Park is the closest to me. I used to go there years ago, mainly for smaller events. It is a beautiful, park type, place on the Wolds and has steep grassy banks so forming natural viepoints to look down onto the track. I did not like the bigger events as they got too crowded. I once went to Brands Hatch near London. That was a nightmare with crowds of people so it was difficult to see any racing. I have never been to an F1 event but have been to championship motorcycle races and some car races.
My dad is watching a Christmas movie on W, just like he did last night. Fun! I could take Christmas any time of year, didn't know he'd like Christmas in July...
Also, it's kinda funny that he's interested in these romance movies in his retirement, kinda like my grandpa reading Harlequin novels as an old gruff man...

Someone only mentioned to me a few days back that Christmas is coming as there are Christmas movies appearing on the TV

Talking about Christmas: it was sort-of decided I'd receive my laptop at Christmas. BUT there is a sale on at the electronics shop in August. This may mean getting my laptop sooner than I thought.
It'll be weird to use a laptop, but I need a new computer: a faster one, at that.

To me, Australia is not the paradise everyone makes it out to be. Sure, there are beautiful sights to be seen and tourism makes Australia a LOT of money. But there are problems there, too: just like in any country.
I - personally - wouldn't ever want to live in Australia.
We almost went to live in Australia when I was little. I think the reason we didn't was beacause of family ties but life sure would have been different. I wouldn't be against living there but I would prefer New Zealand.
My sister lives in australia, she loves it. She was early twenties when she went.
My cousin - Elaine - lives in Australia. She was born and raised in Ireland but moved to Australia a few years ago. In fact, she is now a mum: her daughter is called Eleanor. Such a pretty name.
Anyhow, the right country for Elaine and her daughter.

I saw the first episode of Luther last night. Not sure the series is going to be one I'll want to binge, but there were a few familiar actors and that was good.
