Jodie Wittekers last, I wont say she has been bad but where all other DR's needed a companion she needed a gang.
I've never watched any of it... but that alone sounds sexist LOL
As I said the way they have written the stories makes her portray them as a bumbling teenager which she obviously isn't it's like Barbies adventures in outer space more than an ancient time traveler who has the safety of mankind at the forefront of their thoughts. I'm surprised they didn't redesign the tardis in pink!

I will probably watch it but I do agree somewhat. I think that over the years the doctor's companions have lost much of their character too.
We're going to watch that Dune movie tomorrow.. going to have popcorn and candy for that movie theater experience!
Interesting movie. I kind of wish they made it a TV show instead. I feel like there's so much more they could have done in a TV show and even more backstory and such.

The book was the same. I am really enjoying the prequels, as they explain a lot that the book, or film, dont' cover.
I watched the Dr Who last evening. I cannot say that I was impressed. I much prefer a chance to think before being rammed into the next scene, and I did think that it was a mixed re-hash of past episode themes. I must be getting old :/

I recorded it so I will watch today and get back to you on that...
I was hoping that John Bishop might bring something new to the mix..

Oh dear oh dear oh dear....Chris Chibnall outdid himself in creating something noisy confusing scrambled and headachey. I don't know about anybody else but the sound quality was also dreadful, background noise drowned out the script although that was sometimes a blessing in disguise.. so I had to turn my TV up quite loudly to actually make any sense of it at all.
Next week will be better I can say that with confidence because let's face it it really couldn't get any worse.

I'll probably watch the Dr Who episode today as well - I was watching an old TV concert/special from 1998 yesterday!

Having closed captions on all the time should help me if the sound is bad. Now I'm not expecting too much from it. Might have to start watching old seasons, all the way from Christopher Eccleston's days. Or first... find the movie with Paul McGann!

Yes, I noticed it was an assult on the eardrums too! I get the feeling that the writers feel the need to compete with superheroes of the big screen these days. How long before it deteriorates into a comic book saga?
It was good, in the past, to see other life forms with their strengths and weaknesses. Now it just seems like they are out to outdo themselves with bells, whistles, flashes and bangs
Such a shame it was only 6 episodes but as these were based on only 2 of the 7 books ( I think) in the set there could well be more shows in the pipeline.
I'm always up for sci-fi so i will see if i can find it.
The book is really good.
Just watched the second tonight. It's worth finding.
I bought the original Foundation trilogy (partially because the series is on AppleTV and I'm not going to worry about getting another streaming service right now). Looking forward to it when I remember to dig in!
I found the new Doctor Who episode interesting. Totally loved that I was pretty sure I knew who was playing the "dog fella." I'm interested in seeing how the season shapes up, though my idea of watching older seasons is still a good one.
I'm watching a movie called Coffee Shop, from 2014. I think I've watched this before, but I don't mind checking it out again. Before that, I finished up a movie I'd started a few days ago. It was filmed in Australia and is called Raising the Bar - high school gymnasts, lots of great accents, totally had fun with it.

If you like australian films, this is my favourite. I think your kids will enjoy it too.
Netflix is throwing some really weird stuff my way.. I was browsing and there was a suggestion Happy , about a ex-cop with a drink habit who sets out to rescue an little girl kidnapped by Santa..
Sound almost cheesy and predictable. But this cop is like some sort of mad max terminator who goes round emptying guns into maffia types ad lib who looks like some dirty down and out whos gone ten rounds with tyson and he is being helped by the little girls imaginary friend a mini purple flying unicorn that only he can see.
Im watching and wondering if someone has spiked my tea ! This is a cross between die hard and roger rabbit its crazy violent silly sugary and yet nasty. its

I had mixed feelings over Happy too.
Did you contnue with it? Does it get better than the first 2 episodes?
Is there a movie you were surprised you liked? (Sequels count.)
I was going to ask, is there a movie you feel you should like so you pretend you do? But the annual "best picture" winner kind of takes the fun out of that question.

Hm.. I guess I've never been surprised about liking a movie because usually I only see things that sound like something I'd want to watch. I'm sure there have been times where I was surprised I didn't like something lol can't think of anything off the top of my head, though!
Overall, I never pretend to like anything. My opinions are my own, not what's popular or unpopular.. and that goes for everything ;p A lot of the time, those with the top critic ratings are things I have zero interest in watching. It's like they find the most boring movie and rate it the highest of any movie just to be pretentious.
