I've never played video games: and never will. They just don't appeal. But - hey! - I am not against others playing them.
The video games that get me (and are few and far between) are not at all what my kids like - I could just do with some mahjong, solitaire, hidden objects, or a puzzle thing like that. Doesn't need a long and involved story, doesn't need super great graphics. Simple will do!
Meanwhile, they're into quests and building worlds and things that require a lot of time commitment (so it's not on weekdays with me). I'd rather spend that kind of time going for a walk and then reading!
The only game I ever played and enjoyed was one where you had to go on a quest and collect treasures but you could only move from room to room or scene to scene by answering general knowledge questions.
Ive tried the shoot and kill types a couple of times but I find them mindless and sadistic.

Interestingly, although the only 'game' sort of thing I play is the flight simulator I use, which is not specifically a game as such, I only found out a couple of days back that aerial combat is actually written into it. I knew from the forum I visit that there is a combat side but have never investigated it and thought it was just how one or two people had configured it. I was exploring a bit and have now found that there are settings in the menu's to configure it. The simulator is actually marketed as a serious simulator for flying and aircraft design rather than gaming.
It's not something that I have been interested in as I don't go for 'shoot and kill' either but may give it a try sometime.
I haven't packed much yet this weekend as expected, but I'm taking pictures before I remove artwork from the walls and then we can decide whether to replicate after the reno or change things up. Took down some of the posters before supper, and I have a plan for some of the "wall clings" in the dining room - clean the glass on a large framed painting, and put the clings on there for now!
I think tomorrow I'll enjoy listening to videos and music while taking more things down and sorting through the top shelves of the kitchen cabinets. I know I definitely have too many mugs, but deciding to say goodbye to some is hard for me! I even have souvenir mugs I don't actually use for tea - like a Star Trek one. Perhaps taking photos could give me a souvenir that takes up less space?
We have lots too. I think that there is a Star Trek one amongst the collection but it was my stepson's. I do have a Wallace and Grommit mug still in it's packaging.
Of late, we have been buy A mug when we are away. It will remind us of our holidays.
I will go buy them in about one hour Karen, I already have popcorn, chips, salsa, four different kind of cheese, 4 different kind of crackers, steaks, watermelon and grapes.

Annie, you are already a lot more ready than I am.

Mum has a collection of tea towels somewhere. She used to buy one on every holiday she had.

I mentioned a few months ago that this new place we are in right now is in a different part of this town, older crowd, hippyist, eclectic...
When our house was under renovation, we drove by this Italian joint and always saw a bunch of long hair motorbikers sitting in the front yard eating dinner, I never thought we would eat there until today when my husband came back from his bike ride and told me he wanted to try that place.
The food was incredible, the menu has more than most Italian places, the price was surprisingly good and the atmosphere was like the sitcom " Cheers". Within 10 minutes, the owner started to address my husband by his first name and insisted my husband to call him by his first name, typical Italian neighborhood diner.

As usual, a laid-back weekend should be in store. Kids are home, so maybe we'll visit the library tomorrow for more books, pick a couple places for a good walk, and watch snowboard half pipe (saved recording for them) - and/or an episode of original Muppet Show? Hopefully a bunch of reading, too! I've been wanting a burger and fries lately, so we could do takeout one night...

I remember those times, when I had to split my son's time with my ex. I could not wait for my turn. I always had a plan ready, whether to go see a basketball game, football game or a concert or a ballet....we frequently went iceskating together or took turns to pick out restaurants we wanted to try....but now I can only do things with him a few times a year.
I am not planning anythig too extreme this weekend. It's the usual shopping plus a few things in the garden. The highlight is chatting to my grandaughter on the computer.
