Thanks Marci, I really like the color scheme of your new avatar, fuschia on B/W, very trendy.
I have not been feeling very well lately, works are very overwhelming. Another department just got added to my plate. I do get help but I still have to deal with regulations/compliance and this is a new territory to me, I have people that I can run to if needed but the load is still on me.
If we get this house which we will know tomorrow, that's another major project. It will take at least 5 to 6 months to get permit, and renovate & expand the house. I already have to deal with a construction project at work, now another potential construction project at home but since this will be our forever house, I have to deal with it, there is no way out.
I sleep about 2-3 hours a day in the last three weeks. I think something about this house that I have no warm feeling inside me. I guess I miss the kids too, I have not seen them for 9 months except on the weekly facetime.
I know my husband is trying his best to entertain me but I must say, the lack of activities is really killing me.
I'm sorry. I hope things get better for you soon. I understand about having a lot on your plate. The more you can do the more they load on you. {{Hugs}}
We got the house, signed the counter offer from the seller today. We learned from our broker that our offer was not the highest but they preferred ours over the highest bid because ours is a cash offer, they will get the money in 5 days! I think the highest offer was not that much higher or maybe the family members don't get along so they just want to split the money and go their own way.
Now the next phase is about to happen in two weeks, one of my girlfriends is an architect, she will redesign the house then I will send the plan out for bidding. My husband keeps adding more space to it so I think we will now be adding an extra 1500sft to the existing almost 2100sft. My sisters will be tomorrow for dinner and visit the house, between one sister who is building her own house and the other who is on a constant renovation project ( she has been living in her house for 6 years and I constantly see contractors working on at least one part of her house or more), I will surely have an earful.

I will keep you posted with my plan.
Congratulations Annie. It sounds like a lot of work ahead of you but you finally have what you want.

I love my apartment. It is my home. I always spruce up my apartment: living in a hygenic home is important. And I have had it decorated in the past, too. This includes painting and replacing lamps and the suchlike. I keep up with the improvements.
Home IS where the heart is.
But that's the way the world is, James: if you don't look like you deserve that desk, you're not going to get that desk.

You are right on Paula, cleanliness is always on the top of my list too, I also don't have a lot of trinkets or things laying around the house, I don't like dust.
It doesn't matter whether it's small or big...as long as it's your home.

I am vigilant about dust and cleaning tables. I ALWAYS dust. However, there is a bit of clutter in my apartment. This is a shame, but I like the odd trinket. However, I don't hoard. I ALWAYS take out the rubbish & recycling and edit my stuff and my wardrobe regularly. I HAVE thrown a lot away recently.
I am glad not to be a hoarder.

I clean Im careful I have to be, I feed my dogs raw and without strict hygine protocols we could get really sick but I think theres a lot more to life than cleaning ,, my house is my home its lived in not a magazine pull out.
So sometimes theres clutter, sometimes theres dust, its a lived in home not a palace , but I always have a spare bed and a hot meal if anyone needs it.

That sums it up for me. Sometimes I even have dirty dishes waiting to be cleaned on another day... lol I know some people are always on top of their cleaning, I'm just not one of those people.

Are you ladies talking about me ?
There are 3 empty bedrooms and 3.5 bath for anyone who need a temporary place to stay here.....heheh
Actually we should be careful about cleaning. Too much is as bad as too little, while dust may irritate the lungs over exposure to cleaning chemicals can cause far worse health problems.
Cleaning with a damp cloth a good hoover sunlight and fresh air are the best methods.

We also feed our dog raw food.
At the vet yesterday, they were surprised that she is 13, she looks much younger. Had they asked her age 4 years ago when she was on kibble, they would not have been surprised if we had said 13.
Cleaning, I clean as I go really, so that's the kitchen daily, and every other room in the house at least once a week. The once a week is our clean fest.
We are not keen on the chemical. Elbow grease, and vinegar, is what we use most.

I like the way my dogs are on raw less poo less farts less smell... No bad teeth either. As for the cleaning lots of vineger and bicarbonate of soda here where needed.. hot vinger will shift limescale like a hot knife through butter.
Obviously there are times when you need cleaning stuff but all the scented sprays/ wipes / fluids that really only give the illusion of cleanliness are not only a waste of time and money but they damage the environment too.

The dog stopping farting was a real fringe benefit we didn't expect. The trouble was that her farts sounded human lol
Dust is not an option at my house, I have wipers and disposable gloves around the house, if I see dust, I wipe. I can't stand seeing things out of order. Everything must be where they should be before I go to bed. My sense of smell is very sensitive, food only smells good at dinner time but other than that, it bothers me.

Ever heard of Quentin Crisp?
“There is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn't get any worse.”

He probably can't tell becaus he will be under the dirt anyway I am not saying it's good or bad but how people choose to live says a lot about them,

It can say an awful lot. In some cases I've seen it's because people are suffering depression or disability and they can't clean. In other cases dementia can play a part trauma can play a part... I watched one of those TV shows extreme cleaning, there was one house that was super clean the lady spent 8 hours everyday scrubbing every surface every covered every floor house was spotless and she went to a house with someone was a messy, a hoarder she cleaned and polished and together they got the house in order. What they discovered in that week was that they were both suffering from a trauma. Both of these women had lost a child, to cope the one woman immersed herself in cleaning scrubbing and polishing as if she could scrub away the pain, the other would walk and as she walked at every second-hand shop or a charity store she passed she would pick up some little trinket...
I now have a neighbour her childhood, well it's just diabolical a mother who abandoned , her she was abused by a family member , she gave birth to a child at 14 and had to give up that child for adoption she now surrounds herself with things, she shops 6 times a day, she hoardes and although she's not messy or dirty her house is cluttered beyond imagination, but she needs those things to fill the gap that she has inside her.
Yes the way we live says a lot about us but it's not always the first impression sometimes the story is much more tangled and tragic.
People react differently to the situation, in both cases you mentioned, it's unusual because most people in that kind of situation will lose interest in life, or don't want to do anything or even might become an alcoholic.
I don't know where my obssession came from. My husband thinks I have an OCD. This also shows through my works. All the audits I am responsible for are spotless, not one single adjustment is needed. All the procedures/processes I came up with have no loopholes. My husband got so nervous when we had a party for 80 people at our house, my closest girlfriend told me it was a perfection, from the 15 flower arrangements that I did by myself, to the food selection and displays, even the apron that the service staff wore that day. By the time the last guests left at almost midnight, the house went back to the original state, everything was clean and in order as it should be.
I never see any problem with this side of mine. In fact, I consider it an asset. When my son was in grade school, his classmates were looking foward to being invited to his birthday party and the playdates as well as the events at our house. He was one of the most popular kids at school. His 21st birthday at Pinstripe in Georgetown was talked about even two weeks after the event. I believe this OCD gets me to where I am today and helps enhance my husband's image in his professional and social circle. The good thing is I don't do it to impress, I do it because it's my nature and I love doing it the way I like.

I used to see a woman, she went food shopping every day. Her food was full of bottles, and packets, there was barely enough space for me. It was all clean though.
She was very pleasant, and always gave me a generous tip.

OCD is OCD, and there is no getting away from that as a fact.
But, properly channelled, as you have done, can make it a boon. Particularly, if it is not getting in the way of your life.

I like you: being so organised and clean is something I work on. Unfortunately, I am not at your standard, but I try. I definitely dust and throw things away. I am no hoarder. In fact, I love throwing things away.
There can be nostalgia to objects, but I ask myself "If I lost this item in a fire, would I miss it?" The answer is usually no. The only item I'd regret losing is my computer and smart phone.
Anyhow, I cannot stand being surrounded by stuff: it is very frustrating and I can't tolerate it. If it needs cleaning and/or throwing away, I will do those things.
But that's the way the world is, James: if you don't look like you deserve that desk, you're not going to get that desk.
