I do think food CAN be enjoyed: but in moderation. I also think feeling guilty about eating is pointless. Although so many girls and women harbour this guilt.
Strange, isn't it? Where did this guilt come from? I feel guilty myself sometimes: and I don't even know why.
I don't feel this way. Food is one of the simple pleasures I have in life... so I am going to enjoy it.
Women are basically brainwashed to focus on their weight and appearance in order to be pleasing and worthy. It's everywhere and forced down our throats.
Although finally I am beginning to see ads on tv using "plus size" models which is refreshing.
I like being slimmer, but it is all to do with my health, well mostly.
When I exceed 3 pounds over target, I always remind my self how I would go 'oof' every time I bent, when I was obese. It wasn't healthy, and I didn't like it.
I am so sensitive it feels like 'oof' when I get a few pounds over anyway. I never was a gymnast or dance but I always liked to think I could be and no bend and stretch as if I were so if I bend at the waist to pick something from the floor even a little bigger tum is noticeable. It's one reason I have never been reallyoverweight but have sailed close to anorexia in the past.
My ex fil had a big belly and he always 'oofed' when he bent.

Having plus size models is wonderful.
I think because so many girls and women were suffering eating disorders and pressure from society to be thin, the fashion industry realized it has to use normal size women to sell their cosmetics and clothes. Admittedly, the thinner models do look fabulous BUT they're not the true representative of the modern woman. In fact, most women are plus size these days. Whether it's down to dieting gone wrong or Mars Bars I don't know!
Anyhow, the fashion industry have finally opened up their eyes to the real woman.
One of my daughter's best friends is a plus size model her name is Saakje and she is absolutely gorgeous. She's not only in model she is an advocate for body positivity she is out there on Facebook telling girls make the best of what youve got, don't be ashamed of who you are, be proud, be out there ,and be the person that you are.. I think she's absolutely fantastic.

Hey now... skinny women are also real and normal-sized women ;p People come in all shapes and sizes.
However, under-eating or over-eating to achieve a certain weight/look is not really "natural" is it?
I think you're right it is very important to understand that people do come in different sizes and that sometimes being the perfect magazine weight isn't the right weight for us personally.
When my thyroid went completely mental I lost a lot of weight and ended up in a UK size 8.. but I'm tall I have very broad shoulders so I looked like death warmed up. Then I had radioactive treatment and my thyroid went completely the other way I gained a huge amount of weight in a very short time and felt awful but I worked hard stuck to a sensible diet and lost quite a bit of that overweight but ended up a UK size 16.
I'd love to be smaller again just a little bit but the fact is it's not going to happen so I exercise I eat sensibly I've maintained this weight for nearly 10 years now. On Thursday I'm going for my big health check so weight, blood pressure , sugar , cholesterol everything will be tested . I will be sure to let you know how I get on but I imagine that everything will be just perfect just like last time. Which goes to prove that slightly bigger doesn't always have to mean unhealthy.
My being skinny makes people think that my avoiding gluten is to stay skinny, but it's because it hurts my insides! I was even skinnier before removing gluten, so it was likely causing absorption issues, plus I think it made my other health issues worse. Everything became easier to manage once I removed gluten. I always loved gluten-containing foods... but I have to consider my health over making my taste buds happy lol sigh.

If you've got a health condition, heatherly, you're right to avoid gluten. Plus, just because you're skinny doesn't make you any less woman. Because: it doesn't have to be either curvy or slim. Both body types - every body type - is beautiful. And there are as many body types as there are people.
I found out a fair while ago, too, that dieting can actually result in weight gain. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? But it's true. Abusing the body with diets affects the body and makes it store fat more. It is a theory not many people are aware of. But there as been research into it.
Anyhow, while curvy women ARE beautiful, that doesn't make the skinny any less sexy. Both curvy AND skinny can be sexy.
I had the first half of my health checks. BP 110 over 80. My weight is higher than they like but that's the way it's been for a long time in any case it is stable and the same as 5 years ago. My heart film showed a very healthy and and reasonably slow heartbeat.
The cognitive tests also went very well which is just as well one demented old fart in the house is quite enough.
Next week I have to take in samples of urine and give blood tests I will get the results of that in a couple of weeks time but I am not expecting any nasty surprises.
I got the results through from my health checks. As I expected everything is within normal limits. But I notice that my cholesterol now has a slightly skewed relationship with the bad cholesterol being higher than the good cholesterol. All still within normal limits but not as good as it was 5 years ago. My hemoglobin and hematocriet are very very good, my blood pressure is also extremely good as always I'm a bit fat but there's not an awful lot I can do about that.
So the things to work on are my cholesterol and natrium .. I should be going through my cupboards and my fridge with a fine tooth comb to find the culprits of my downward slide.

Stress can elevate it, too. I know you have had more stress lately. Red meats and dairy in particular are some of the common culprits... Might need to limit some of that if you are concerned it might go higher.

That sounds good Cassie!
You seem to be doing the right things. Don't get too critical though as stress can have more effect than lots of other influences, as Heather said.
I sat down last night and had a good critical look. I noticed a couple of bad habits that have crept in and as today was shopping day I made sure those products were not in my basket..
Hopefully with a few small changes things should return to normal.

If you overload on anything it's going to be bad for you: even healthy things.
There has always been scaremongering about coffee: and other drinks. But - again - if it is consumed in moderation it won't damage you. Also, there were claims rice had arsnic in and was bad for you: this is ridiculous. Billions of Asian people consume rice every day: and there have been no deaths from doing so.
There always has to be someone - or some company - to try to frighten people away from what they know.
There was a documentary call strange ways to die and there was one man who wanted to be the fittest man on the planet so he drank tons of carrot juice.. and it killed him..
I agree that a balance is essential , I hear these things, a glass of red wine per day, two square of dark chocolate or avoiding carbs is the best way to live longer.. I dont agree. I think a little of everything and everything in moderation is the correct way to ..
Plus is better to live 70 years of laughter than 100 years of misery. I remember a race jockey saying now he was retired he was no longer hungry and when asked what he meant he said that since the age of 14 when he started racing he had always been hungry but unable to eat because of weight limits for riders..
I just think that is a totally miserable way to live.

Yes, people can also die from drinking too much water because of it causing an imbalance of electrolytes. We can throw ourselves out of whack with just about anything!

You are not wrong, but there is a balance to be found, and even doing without, can be mentally healthy for you. It is good for us to challenge ourselves in that way too.
