I remember my brother once told me that I was just wasting my life by playing video games
I despise the question, "Do you just want to play videos games for the rest of your life?" The answer is always an obvious yes, because I have a feel that nobody really wants to slave away at a dead-end mundane job unless absolutely necessary. The fact that this is the kind of motivation that parents can often times result to in order to motivate their kids only further shows that human society is at a point where it doesn't really care about the humans in it. Of course, then there is me who feels like I should be slaving away at a mundane dead-end job because everything else just seems like it only puts me in a state of utter uselessness and sometimes I don't think it stems from any sort of childhood trauma.

Just my thoughts.
Everyone maybe wants an interesting job. The trick is to choose a job in which you are interested, or has side interests to cure the boredom. For me, apart from some other things, a good side part was meeting people when I was working and being able to chat about other things rather than work.
I have found that the trouble with work is that you cannot usually just go and do what you want. Even with my artwork, it would get tedious in the end if I did it as a well paying occupation as there are external demands that dictate what you do to make money. It's often only the people at the top who can dictate the direction of things and (maybe?) do just what they want.

Nope, they just have different bosses..... The public, customers, the electorate..... We all have bosses.

That's why I put the 'maybe?'. I have never been at the top to know, and was not going to presume.
I decided to purchase a little bit of natural looking makeup and some stuff for my nails so I can try to grow them out a little. I will look at polishes later. They supposedly don't want us wearing polish but so many of the girls do anyway. So screw it. I want to keep my hair at around 2" long and try to keep myself looking tended to. Maybe that will make me feel better. Maybe if I feel better I'll be more inclined to do some stuff around the house.
How come it has come to this? That people need self-care instructions. Something that should've been the status quo now something that has to be encouraged from the start. Numerous and pointless rhetoric concerning the avoidance of personal boundaries and personal responsibilities. For what? The pursuit of the dollar? Generations of potential have been wasted because of this crap and yet still, people buy into the sh*t. It's irritating.

I've given myself a manicure this morning and plucked my eyebrows last night. I also brush my teeth twice a day. I shower daily, too.
Self care is very important to me. I also attend all my medical appointments. I eat properly, too. Again, self care is very important to me.
Could not agree more.
I tend to ignore myself when I am too busy. In the last 7 months, I went to work in tennis shoes or mule, jeans and sweaters. I had to set up a closet in my office with clothes, shoes, make-up so that I will have everything right there when I want or need them.

DISAGREED.
There are ways to make ourselves look and feel better but we don't even know it.
A few example, a facial massage, a pair of rothys shoes, a cup of matcha tea. Up to about 15 years ago, people did know realize mediation and yoga help them relax. Just because you don't see it or need it, it does not mean people should feel the same.

What exactly are you disagreeing with here? None of this was in what I initially wrote.

Self care is very important to me, as you all know. I learnt from Sugar and Just 17 magazines as a teenager! I LOVED those magazines and I still read magazines to this day. However, I read "Woman & Home" and "Good Housekeeping" these days. Cosmo isn't right for me anymore. It is really for younger women who work and have boyfriends and have a disposable income.

I must admit that my life is not scripted . I am too much of a rebel
Oh, count me in. I still have 70 pairs and love 90% of them
Annie we would get along so well. If you were my sister and we shared, we would be able to wear a different pair of shoes each day for almost half a year.

Some people don't know how to relax or care for themselves even without work causing them to be less inclined to, so it's good to encourage it for whatever reason. I do agree it's a shame that societies have made it so people feel they have to always be working and can't take time for themselves. That's why I wanted this self-care thread to be around as a reminder for everyone to take care of themselves or to just give others ideas if they struggle with doing so

hahaha.... my shoes size is 6.5-7, my clothes are size 4. There you go, probably we should move closer to each other

It's not "society" it's the bosses. The bosses expect us to practically live and breathe our jobs. The dept. I'm in doesn't even wanna let us have 2 wks off for vacation cuz they're short. Not my problem. However the little foreigners are allowed a month to month and a half to go back to their countries. Because if they don't let them go they will be considered racist. We're lucky if they let us have 1 week a year. I have no life outside of my apt. Partially because of my own personal choice. But I also have no money and I'm too damn tired from working myself to death every day because we're shorthanded every day.
