I sometimes feel like I understand Hannibal Lecter when he said, "I only eat the rude."
I have my own forum I'm trying to get opened up and two days ago a guest came on the shoutbox and immediately starting trying to tell me what I should and shouldn't do, how I need to do this, how I need to advertise, "will you promise to advertise at least on fifteen sites a day?" And it was all I could do not to chase her off my site then and there. Ugh, she's back today and is starting to do the same things. Honestly, I want to call her out on how stuck up and pompous she's acting but then everyone else will see it LOL
Of all my people pet peeves, it's rude people that get me the most angry.

Maybe you can get her to stop in a polite way.
Like saying,"Thanks for the suggestions, but I am going to go in a different direction."
It's stupid that she's doing that to you. If she wants to control how a site is run, then why doesn't she make her own site and run it the way she wants to? And not tell other people what to do?

Nice, a Hannibal quote... The TV show just ended, thanks for reminding me about how I can't watch it anymore =p
I'm sure that woman meant well (I'm just going to assume that); maybe it means she really likes your forum and wants it to do well! However, some people do come off a bit strong and rude. Especially so if she is new to you, so you don't even know much about her personality.
All you can do is explain your side, tell her what you will be doing (or what you do already), and leave it at that. If this new woman wants to promote you on the internet, then she can =p

I have wondered what Heather did when she was not spending time on our forum.

An old lecturer who was always an inspiration to me, used to say that if you get that sort of thing going on and interrupting the class, just say, "Ok, I will write that down over here, and I will come back to that later, thanks!"
Like everyone, I also dislike the rude, but my rant is for the boring........
People telling you all about their mundane work is a real nono for me. Most jobs can have moments that would fascinate anyone, but they don't seem to tell you those stories.
No!
You just get the ones that make you want to attack them with a fork.....

LOL Michelle, I don't think it would be easy to keep members if someone responds that way! You have no idea how tempting it is to say that to people when you are just getting to know them and they are being a jerk.
When it comes to people in video games being mean to me... I usually say "stfu" (shut the f**k up) because I'll never see them again, and I report them.
Online, I provoke them enough to be nasty enough to me, then they get banned.
I have had mods apologise to me, that they should have been removed earlier, but they had no idea just how nasty they could get, and were really quite shocked.

Haha, that is a tactic my boyfriend does sometimes. Provoking them enough so they can be reported and get into trouble. Sometimes you don't get into trouble if it's minor but still you being a jerk. Mega-jerks are the ones who get into trouble, and it's not very hard to bring it out of them.

Cher, would they be "shocked and stunned"? I had to throw a Rutles quote in there because you also mentioned Nasty, a member of the band. How crazy am I?

Some people will always get on your nerves no matter what =p Some personalities just clash, that's for sure. Or some personalities are just hard to get along with even for the nicest person. Been there...

I agree with you, Heather. But, there have been times when I didn't like someone initially, but then we became friends. Close the door, but don't lock it.
Post by heatherly on Sept 28, 2015 17:08:46 GMT -5
I'm not sure there is ever anyone I dislike initially, but anyone I dislike I never end up being friends with them because there is a reason I don't like them lol

I sort of hold grudges (for like a month), but it's more of my way of making sure I don't let someone mess with me again. Then I move on after a while of no contact with the person.
I never forget grudges. They don't fester though, or bother me. I just put them on the bookshelf and one day, given the opportunity, I will fetch them down.

I try to hold grudges but i usually forget. As crazy as that sounds. By the time I'm walking away from a conversation Im thinking, "oops I'm supposed to be mad"

my people peeves has to be rudeness i hate rude people!! im talking both on forums and in person.. i go on a baby forum and i have since i was pregnant, wow, these women are just horrible! so rude! i once commented on a thread about syria, i said my bt and everyone attacked me that im racist, im not human for thinking the way i do, etc. there was then another thread and it was about a little girl that keeps hitting her son, she asked what would you do. now me being me wasnt very serious and i put 'any time a child hurts a child i know, i just want to nip them or trip them up or something' i was then attacked called a child bully, i dont deserve to be near kids if thats how i treat them, i was like wow!! that escalated quickly, when i apologised and said i was only joking i was then called sick for making a joke like that, its not funny blah blah!! now if id seen a comment like that i wouldnt assume they were a child bully, just that they were playing around trying to lighten up the thread!! ive had all sorts thrown at me from that forum!!
in person omg!!! there is so many things that annoy me, people not using manners, they are free you know, it wont hurt!! i live in a back to back house so i have neighbours at the side and behind me, so on saturday my behind neighbours were having a bbq, they had music on and that was fine, well it was until it got turned up at 1 am, i messaged the girl and asked to turn it down please, no reply, music still playing until about 5 am, then it went quiet then it was back on again at 7 until lunch time. i got a message from her later on saying she was sorry but she wasnt in, i replied saying it had woke M up at 1 am he didnt get back to sleep until the next morning and that i was fuming, i got no sorry, she started having a go at me, that the music was on before 1am, that my boyf plays music through the day and when she is trying to have a lie in, she doesnt complain, apparently my dogs bark all day every day and she doesnt complain about that. yes my BF does play music through the day but not at 1 am!! he listens to it after lunch time and never later than 4pm, if she ever asked for it to be turned down it would be and thats that. but instead im the one getting moaned at when they were the ones been unreasonable, anyway i spoke to my neighbour at the side and she said she never hears my dogs, only if they are in the garden, never wakes or keeps her up it is hers behind that barks all day when they are at work, i knew it wasnt my dogs bcos the only time they do bark is if someone comes in the garden or if they are in the garden they may bark once or 2ce and it is only heard if the door is open or like i say if they are outside, i was fuming how dare she moan at me like that when it was me and my son that was up all hours listening to their baseline d*ck fest!!!!
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice then sit back and watch as the world wonders how you did it.
Cleaning and scrubbing can wait ‘til tomorrow For babies grow up we've learnt to our sorrow, So quiet down cobwebs Dust go to sleep I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep
