I think I'd stop if that was just some novel, but I heard so much of this book and I was sure I'd like it. Who knows maybe the ending is unpredictably interesting, I want to say somehow it became classics...

I finally finished it! Officially "100 years of solitude" was one of the most difficult books for me to read, but I did it! One more golden star for me, please, Cherry)))
I definitely understand now why this book is considered to be classic and I should say I even started liking it at the end, until...
SPOILER
WTF! Ants took the baby away!!! This is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard or read...

I liked messed up stories, but usually I prefer short stories in those cases lol I am not a fan of reading a long book only to be disappointed by the ending. I've read some books that made me cry at the end and left me hanging.. the worst!! lol it's like a tv show sometimes.

Just started reading another book yesterday, some easy reading, modern book and one more time made sure why some books become classic. It's about every single word, it's about style of writing, it's about meaning of every sentence that can be different for one and the same person each time he/she is reading it...
I already read about 20% of this, new book and it's really easy to read as I expected, but it doesn't change anything inside of me it doesn't make me wiser or better in any way... It's not bad, but it isn't good too, it's just wasting of time.
I think I'll peak some classic book as my next one.
Oy, I'm studying a lot, so I'll just be reading boring books I don't recommend to any of you. One is a study guide =p Hopefully when I am done with school I can get back into reading random books again.. I have some free ones saved up from Amazon already.
So far I am doing well. I am pretty much acing everything, even the things I think I am failing xD
I have a few weeks to study for an important exam.. one that actually counts! So I will be busy with that for a while. I'll let you know if my studying was enough after I receive the results ;p They give a retake for it at least because the pass rate is around 54% or something.. yikes lol
We weren't on this site for a couple years (went back to the other WOF), so that is another reason why that thread died. Although, most people were not reading books too often.
I am always reading, but it is usually articles instead of books. The e-book I am trying to get through is more work-related.. I am trying to study and refresh myself on information. Once I finish that, then maybe I'll switch back to reading random books.
I do pick up the free kindle books each month from Amazon. I usually get crime thrillers, but the ones I had read so far have been so BLAH lol none I'd recommend yet, but I will let you know if any of them turn out to be good. Let me know what you'd recommend for that genre because those were the type of books I was always drawn to.
Anyone? I saw the old book thread hadnt been touched since 2016.
So has everyone abandoned books now?
I havent and Im trying to find myself at least 1 hour a day to read.
Ive just finished the Time travellers wife and I loved it.
Now I have a blood filled crime thriller to occupy me for a couple of days (those things are very light reading) then its onto something new.
Any recomendations new or old although preferrably old because it takes time for English language books to filter through..
I just finished the Time Travellers Wife about the same time today. How weird is that? It is an amazing book - utterly novel.
I have now moved onto a biography of David Bowie. It seems really good early on...
Agree a very novel love story with a hint of sci fi..
Mum sent me the autobiograhpy of Debbie Harry at Christmas as well as Wham and Norman Wisdom.. I have to be in the mood to read biographys read about Peter Sellers now every time I see him I just cry inside for his children who had to live with him...
Rick Wakeman was a good read, as was Aleister Crowley.
I didn't know Peter Sellars was a poor parent...
Sadly Peter Sellers suffered MH problems as well as drugs and alcohol addictions his depressions were dark and his children suffered by having to live with his mood swings and his unpredicatble behaviour.
I cant read a kindle because of my eyes I have to limit screen time anyway so a kindle would be the death of me.
