What have you bought lately?

Cherry I have already been to 2 sites, one in Belize and one in Mexico. We are planning a trip to Chichen Itza. this time. 

It is an amazing pyramid. 

Exactly. During lockdown I did several virtual tours of places like this and seeing close up the souviner sellers crowding in ,the rubbish,  the car parks,  the lines of people filing past things all elbowing each other to get 'the selfie' put me right off the idea of going anywhere, I know they are all necessary or at least normal but how can anyone soak up any atmosphere and feeling from a place while a tacky little man is shoving plastic replicas of it in your face and some sweaty tourist is screaming "isnt it quaint" ? at everything.

Cassie, all the times I have gone the crowds were not bad at all. Granted there are souvenir sellers but they usually are not within eyesight of the ruins at all. 

I went to Malta in the eighties and loved Comino island. There were three ferries there, and it was quiet and relaxing. I went again last year, it was awful. There must have been fifty ferries and the beach was too full to sit down. Like many we stayed on the rocks.

Well over populated, and the clear water it was famous for is no longer.

I bought a new floor lamp that I'll likely assemble tomorrow. I'm excited that it'll make my daytime reading spot properly lit, and there are shelves below the light, so that should be handy for placing books or reading glasses...

On the way here: rechargeable batteries and a draft stopper for the front door (sold on the tartan, thank you very much!).

Also threw in a new book in my latest Amazon order. And I was the only bidder for the Lizzie Bennet Diaries books I wanted on eBay, so those will ship soon.

Groceries....

Yesterday I bought the weekly grocery shop.

I've just ordered all of the wood to renew the... gosh I don't know what it's called "waterkering" ( fence for the bank)at the bottom of the garden by the canal.

Sweets.

Two digital purchases recently: the new ebook from Hanna Sandvig (The Frost Gate) and also a compilation album from Thousand Foot Krutch.

On the "staying healthy" front, I bought an "ab trainer" this month that I'd seen in a video of Dick Van Dyke from a few years ago (hee hee, funny way to decide on new equipment) and I have resistance bands coming this week. Every little bit helps to encourage us all to move more!

I did the grocery shopping today. I now have a full fridge.

Yesterday pie and chips. Today nothing.
