I love that we brought this thread back! Ahem... as I said before: I am Canadian. In Canada, it seems like no one really cares about weed as a DRUG. Everyone smokes it, everyone is cool about it. I've seen people walking down the street smoking a joint without a care in the world. Even my Dad rolls up a couple before he goes out golfing. It is less dangerous than alcohol. That is a fact. You never hear of people smoking so much weed they get hospitalized or beat up their girlfriend or whatever. The most someone does when they smoke too much is eat all the chips and chocolate and watch all the episodes of "Cosmos." The government should use their drug fighting money for better causes.

Amen! I knew how you felt about it, and you're totally right. Focus on things that actually hurt people, not weed. I had to re-start this thread because it makes sense. Hi Heather!
Very true. It is such a waste of money to continue the war on drugs, especially against marijuana!
Greed is also a big factor. For example, if companies want to patent synthetic forms of "marijuana" to sell to patients, they can't have the real thing take away the money they can make.
My boyfriend was doing it daily for many years, and he is far from mediocre. He isn't an exception to the rule, either. He went through school and got a job as a programmer, and he has kept his job for 6+ years.
It really does come down to your personality more than anything, unless you take an exorbitant amount. I personally have never met anyone who were too stoned to do anything all day every day; I have heard stories of people like that, but it seems more rare. Usually those people are lazy regardless, and everyone knows it.
I will agree with that one side of it... when it comes to relationships I think it can hinder your ability to see how unhappy you actually are with the person. It can improve your mood a bit too much =p
My bf stayed with his ex for 3 years, and he thinks the mj made it easier for him to stick it out even though he had thoughts of leaving just one year into the relationship. If he hadn't been on it? Well, he probably would have gotten fed up and left when the thoughts entered his mind originally lol but relationships can be difficult to leave regardless!

It's all about the person. If someone is a bitter person that's what they are. If a person is bad before drinking, he/she will be a mean drunk; if a person is nice, after drinking that person tends to be a friendly drunk. It's a bit different with weed because it mellows you out.
True, it can be a very positive and promising thing.
Actually, even a hard drug like LSD, cocaine, and ecstasy can have medical benefits (to name a few)! We still need a lot more research to conduct on so many drugs to find out the different possible uses. However, based on what I have read so far, the harder drugs tend to have limited positive qualities, whereas marijuana can help with a larger range of things.
