I do not have any plan to save the earth or planet , it's just a habit. There are two trash can in my trash compartment, one for recycling, I do not have to make any extra effort. -
We have 4 recycling bins. Landfill Paper Garden Plastic, tins, and glass
We have four bins too although I use the garden bin for storage as I recycle my own garden waste.

We have only one for everything. Glass is no longer recycled and goes with the regular trash. We do have another container for yard waste but none of that is recycled.

We recycle garden waste too, but for lawn trimmings. Those we recycle 50%. Oh, twigs, and branches we don't recycle either.
My recycling does not always make for a tidy garden as, for instance, I use chopped up branches and twigs instead of the more tidy bark chippings for mulch etc but it is great for wildlife.

I recycle, too: even though I live in an apartment.
But there is a problem: my neighbours mix up the regular bin with the recycling bin. Even though there are labels on each bin. It is a real problem for the council. Because they need the correct rubbish in the correct bin to do their job.

I do wish there was something I could do.
That happens a lot and often by accident. We mostly bag our normal waste anyway as it keeps the bin tidy so it does not need cleaning so often. It makes it much easier to remove something put in accidently. I tend to check the bin as I put it out. I am guilty of some things though as I tend to put small electrical items in normal waste. There is no way I am going to travel all the way into town to the waste site just to drop off something like a hairdryer. It is economically and environmentally unjustifiable. Particularly as I dismantle such things and put the plastic and metal parts in the appropriate bin.
I had to repair a split in our landfill bin a while back, and noticed that the smell of the bin took me back to when I was a little kid. It seems that the bacteria in bins is not any different to what it was, all those years ago.

I have read that aromas and can bring back memories better than any of our other senses.

We had one of those metal bins as a kid. The lids didn't always come off easily, you had to tug and pull at them. So when they whooshed off, you got a great whiff of the bacterial gasses.
These modern plastic wheelie bins are so much better.

I have to agree. I bet the collectors prefer the wheelie bins too although I doubt if any working now remember the old ones. It does leave things cleaner too as I remember trails of ash and rubbish sometimes left after bin day.
Some scammers are very skilled. I came close to being scammed once.
I can imagine that. In a similar vein I came across a con man once and was almost dying to give him the money he wanted and still wonder from time to time if I was being harsh in not doing so. It was in my teens and he was of similar age and wanted money to get somewhere but he was oh so plausible.A real talker. I am still not 100% it was a con but I am almost certain. When a stranger asks for money?
A good training experience; Play for time and check the facts. It's so easy to get caught.

Old saying, and very valuable: "You can always trust a con-man."
IDK though... how do you think you're talking to Elon Musk or anyone famous without asking them to go on a video call or something before investing? lol
Over 5 years ago when I was still at my former job, Tesla was right down the street from my office and Elon Musk frequently had lunch at the Marriot around the corner, I saw him 7 out of 10 time I went there, no one paid attention to him, people just went on with their business.

Does he drive a Tesla?
More importantly, does he look as odd in the flesh?

I saw him in the driving room, not in the parking lot but yes, Musk drives a Tesla.
Road rage has no upper age limit. In Tilburg the Netherlands an 81 year old man became so enraged when an 85 year old woman 'stole' his parking place that he got out of his car shouting at her, he pushed her and then threw her into the bushes. A bystander called the police and took the key from his car so that he couldn't escape the man has been arrested...
