Cheaper than the Aixam though. The Aixam is typically used by disabled people and older people who dont want the expenses that come with a conventional car so they buy this restricited speed car ( actually its licenced as an enclosed scooter)
Well they only go 28mph and if France is like the Netherlands then they travel on bike paths along any route where traffic travels more than 30mph. Plus they are surprisingly robust....

That would never work here. Bike paths are rare in most places and American's love their cars.

I was just talking with the oldest today about how cool it would be if our city changed to have bikes and pedestrians where we have our street level now, and sent the cars and trucks to a lower street level. I was inspired by a show about Chicago...
Bike paths are becoming more common here now but they are a mess as there are bits and pieces of them everywhere and cyclists, particularly the lycra louts, often don't even use them. There is also total disregard for pedestrians and traffic laws by many cyclists too. I can cope with children and even teenagers but it's often the (normally responsible) professional people who really get my goat.

I resent that I have to be responsible for not running over the top of cyclists. They seem to have so little interest in self preservation.

I was watching a very old episode of Top Great the other day ( Clarkson so un pc but soooo funny)
This was their idea for a cycling safety film and I cant say I disagree...
I see it almost every week and I don't drive as much now. It did make my day one Sunday morning though. I got to a set of lights in town behind a cyclist. The lights changed to green but he did not move. The lights changed back to red. At that point the cyclist crossed over the lights (that really confused me ). When the lights changed back to green I moved off. The car behind me followed and then stopped the cyclist. It was a police car, which I had already noticed . He was perhaps in his twenties or thirties so not young or elderly.

I would advise every cyclist to ALWAYS wear a helmet. My dear friend Michael was not wearing a helmet: he ended up with a severe head injury. And he was considered one of the lucky ones.
Please, PLEASE encourage any young person you see to wear one. Their safety is more important than how cool - or uncool - they look.

My mechanic died after coming off his bike. He bumped his head.
His wife said he went to bed with a mild headache, and was dead in the morning.
I missed a photo last night. Just to prove that the Dutch do everything on bikes. Coming home from walking the dogs we spotted 3 cyclists each towing a large inflatable boat on trailers complete with outboard motor!

I haven't seen them towing boats but I imagine you get lots of those little trailers in which the children are strapped. The most interesting that I have seen here, although only once in real life, was a someone on a cycle with their baby in a little sidecar, similar to the old fashioned motorbike and sidecar but in miniature. When we were little dad did have a small seat fixed to the crossbar on this bike and mum had a child carrier seat to the rear of hers. We grew up cycling all over locally.

And you still see people here in Florida that don't wear a helmet while riding motorcycles, not just bicycles.

Indeed we get lots of baby trailers and dog trailers, theres a local painter who turns up on a special 'bakfiets', Bike with big storage at the front where he keeps his tools paint etc...
Lots of deliver companies use bikes too..
Its so normal here even the most famous of families use bikes to get around.....This is King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima with the three little princesses...

Royals always smile better than the rest of us.
That is a lovely photo of them. Indeed they do smile better. It's maybe that they take lessons lol. Maybe it's uncouth for them to laugh though. We are allowed that
