I bought myself a new pair of trainers on Saturday: I wore them today and they felt like a charm. I definitely prefer practical, sensible shoes. Because I am not a high heel wearer: I can't wear shoes that aren't right for me.
I have been trying to remember what we wore before baseball caps. They didn't really arrive here until the 70's, and then they had to be turned backwards, or sideways. Only dorks wore them the right way round.
I know old guys wore flat caps, and women wore hats. But hatless seems to have been de rigeur for the rest of us.

My mum always had a head scarf for when it was windy. I think as hairstyles changed and became less beehive or shampoo and set and much looser the need for hats or protective headgear kind of faded away. I suffer with cold in the front of my head so in the winter I have woolen hats in between times I have flat caps Harris Tweed a nice Aran and a couple of cotton ones. For the summer and mainly to stop the wind blowing my hair in my eyes obscuring my view whilst trying to clean up dog poo I have several baseball caps. I do not like baseball caps with New York Giants or Green Bay Packers stamped all over them I prefer instead ones with a small flower or natural design on the front.
Theres also the issue of bright sun hurting my eyes and for OH the risk of the mosquito bits on his bald head!

I went clothes shopping with my sister yesterday: we bought loads of clothes. I have washed them today. I enjoy being stylish and looking good. I also love wearing dresses several times a week: now the weather is hot it is perfect timing.
What I am not keen on is denim. Sure, it is popular and looks good: but I still avoid wearing it. I can't stand jeans. I'll wear them when I have to: but otherwise jeans are a no-go.

I am wondering a bit why I bought some denim material a while back. The trouble is that it shrinks and the colour runs badly. I'll use it but I need ot think in future

I tend to wear jeggings rather than jeans. I prefer the stretch fit. It's a lot more comfy.
I saw a woman in jeggings today .. pass me the sick bucket every dimple of her fat legs framed by lycra her backside was huge and it jiggled and wiggled with a life of its own. She looked like an over stuffed sausage.
Just because something is made in XXL doesnt mean its a good idea to wear it.
I think you should wear what suits you and makes you feel and look good. Being big or small doesn't mean you cant find things to flatter your body.
Its also important to think about lifestyle. I wear a lot of jeans. Im out with the dogs a lot, I cycle , I live in a windy country where skirts are impractical a lot if the time.
But I do have nice dresses or skirts if the weather allows or when Im going out.
See I disagree, all that nylon is not good for the body. They dont keep out the cold the way a good denim does, they make the body sweat and they catch and snag on things , decent cotton denim doesn't.
I dont like wearing man made fibres. I prefer cotton..

I prefer natural fibres too although many synthetics are Ok. I just remember and cringe at the thought of those horrible nylon bedsheets that were all the rage some years ago

I was gifted a bag of clothes from a neighbour and there were two shirts that made me laugh. Totally 60's or 70's and not great colour combos. I used them in place of tissue paper in a gift bag for my mum, so we could laugh about them. They may be back again as "wrapping fabric" between me and Mum!
In the same bag were running shoes that fit Mum plus a vest she liked. Not bad for unsolicited clothing!
