Wondering how many have had to have theirs removed and at what age? Had to have only one out later in life due to being impacted and infected. They left the others in which were also impacted. Hope I dont have probs with anymore as the older you are the worse it is so I was told.

My bottom two started poking out when I was 18. At 19, when I went to have the bottom ones removed, the dentist decided to take out the impacted top two as well.

I had braces.. but they didn't remove my wisdom teeth. Over the years, they just crowded back together because there was never enough room to begin with.. it was why I needed braces lol only my top two have teeth showing fully.. one of my bottom is hidden in the gum, and the other has pieces poking out.

That dosen't sound good! mine kept getting infected even though none of mine erupted to the surface. The one they took had been giving me probs for years!

I don't want to scare you but just be watchful on the re-infection. You don't want it to spread and become a medical condition. Prevention is better than cure as the saying goes. Why don't you have those problematic wisdom teeth pulled out for good?

That sounds a bit painful Heather.
I only get discomfort at random.. my teeth will ache a little all at once and stop not long after... I guess I am feeling them shifting... I want to get invisalign or something eventually to try to uncrowd them again lol but eh.. not sure when I'd want to do that with everything else going on.. I don't feel like being super uncomfortable in my mouth any time soon.

I've had my wisdom teeth pulled out: sure, my mouth was bloody, but it didn't hurt that much! I also had a brace fitted: my teeth are still straight today.
I have had a LOT of dental work over the years: and now I love my teeth. I also brush my teeth twice daily. I use an electric toothbrush at night and a manual toothbrush in the morning. I steer clear of sweets, too.
There is actually a good reason why some wisdom teeth are really painful to pull, and others aren't.
It is to do with the angles of the 4 roots. The first one I had pulled had all the roots pointing in. Thus it was agony, and I had to keep removing little bits of bone over the following few weeks.
For the second, I was worried sick, as I had been in agony for a week for that one ^^.
It was a complete doddle as the roots were all level, and the dentist actually split the tooth into 4 pieces before extraction. I had taken the day off, but I could have gone back to work had I known.
I've never really thought about it until now; I suppose it did. I always thought that they shifted because I didn't wear my retainers long enough. I was always breaking them. The last straw was when they were carted away on a hospital meal tray. I spent my 12th birthday in that hospital. My mom and aunt went dumpster diving for them, to no avail. That was the last straw.

I think you are right about the retainer too Crystal, I have the old fashion wire retainer so I can keep them like forever.

I had metal ones as well, but the top one was attached to/encased in plastic which covered the roof of my mouth. They suctioned really well to my tongue, and I would play with it by rolling and turning it around and chewing on it, much like someone playing with a toothpick. That is why they broke so often.

Oh, that's right. That plastic piece holds the wire. Mine is thick and hard so once I put the retainer on, there is nothing I can do to it. It is uncomfortable the first few minutes but then I get used to it afterward.
I get it now, a few of you had their wisdom teeth taken out when young for the brace. I never had one, not because I had good set of front teeth. We were poor and just couldn't afford it. Fortunately, my teeth aren't that bad but definitely would have made better if I did have braces. My kiddo is going to have it next year, depending on the check up. I'm glad that as parents, my husband and I can afford it.
