I get it now, a few of you had their wisdom teeth taken out when young for the brace. I never had one, not because I had good set of front teeth. We were poor and just couldn't afford it. Fortunately, my teeth aren't that bad but definitely would have made better if I did have braces. My kiddo is going to have it next year, depending on the check up. I'm glad that as parents, my husband and I can afford it.
I don't know how old your children are but if they are young, like under 18, you might want to make sure they clean their teeth at least twice a day.
I always made my son rinse his mouth about 5 times first, then flossed, then brushed.

Are they going to do invisalign or metal braces?
Here there is incentive for getting children sorted with any work required as when they are adults they have to pay dental charges. The problem now is that with the shortage of dentists they will miss out on treatment and probably have to join a waiting list even when they are adults.

Braces are just cosmetic, as long as the teeth are in decent shape, no braces are needed. In the US, somehow braces become a habit, my teeth were pretty straight, so I am not sure why my mom made me wear braces. I had them on my 14 months, much shorter than my sister, she had to wear them for 2 years.

I have wondered if it is really a bit of a fad as it did become very common for a while. There are times when they are useful but I do wonder about the research on reasons why teeth go crooked, and how that affects their life. Dentistry is something I know little of except for what my dentist has said. My teeth are a bit all over the place but as long as they keep.
Just hoping my other 3 don't ever need to come out they are also completely hidden below the surface. The surgeon said they would probably not cause probs like the other one. However they would be extremely difficult to remove due to their position anyway. So far I have never even been able to feel them unlike the other really problematic one.
Had my top two out when I was younger. Later on when I was an adult they had to surgically remove the bottom two. They had to cut into the gum and break the teeth to get them out as the root was wrapped around my jaw bone. They dislocated my jaw and had to put it back into place. I was so swollen that I had to hold ice packs on my cheeks. And I was so bruised they thought my husband had been hitting me.

wow sounds like the some of the same probs I had and mine was only for 1. It was a bottom one also. Had to cut into gums and break up the tooth as well i think. I didn't want to ask too many questions as i was scared enough lol

I LOVE my teeth: I have had so much work done on them. Even as a young girl I regularly saw the dentist. And I brush my teeth like clockwork. Dental hygiene is very important to me: I won't even touch sweets.
Talking about teeth, both of my sisters are dentist so I have an advantage...
I have my teeth clean three times a year, not two. I have never had a cavity in my entire life so far, I do eat sweet though, not excessively but a few times a week, I drink soda, have desserts, why should we deprive ourselves? I had to wear braces twice since during the first two years after I gave birth to my son, I was not diligent with wearing retainers at night. I stopped getting professional whitening since they are not as effective as they advertise, the toothpaste and the solution I am using are very effective to keep the teeth looking white and clean. When it comes to nice teeth, there are only three things: even not crooked, white, and clean. Also, don't forget about your gum, they are as important as your teeth.

Coming to the original topic late...
I have only had one of my wisdom teeth come in, and it was late. Like, a decade later than most people have theirs... The others can be seen in x-rays only. I did have that one out (though it seemed to be a tough thing for the dentist to accomplish) and I had an infection afterwards. Once I got enough meds for the infection, all was good.

I had one out years ago. I was quite worried at the time as the dentist got a second dentist in the room to assist. The tooth took a lot of taking out. It felt like he was trying to extract my jaw or something. I have wondered since whether a better dentist may have saved it as it was just painful, not problematic in any other way.
