If you eat a lot if bacon buy bacon ends. Most grocery stores sell packages of bacon end/clippings cut off from fancy bacon slices that can't be used for anything else. They are a fraction of the cost of bacon slices.
If you use social media join local exchange/sale or free groups . people exchange /sell all sorts of things and often give away perfectly good things too. Its also a great place to rid yourself of things you no longer need and could bring a few extra pennies your way.
I got a perfectly good exercise bench. I had it for years, before passing it on through a recycle site.

We buy those. The slim pieces we keep for grilling, the thick pieces we freeze until we can get round to making stews.

similarly our local Morrisons used to sell meat pieces (I haven't been there for months so don't know if they still do). They were offcuts of cooked cold meat and, although pot luck, were an absolute bargain at times.
Continuing on the cheese theme. Don't buy grated cheese grate your own and freeze it.
If you still use washing up liquid ( dish soap) try putting it into a pump dispenser bottle that way you could resist the temptation of squishing a lot more than you need into the water.

Exchanging items with neighbours and friends is a great way to save the planet: as well as the pockets.
Not buying new items all the time DOES help others on lesser incomes, too. IKEA is great but there are used items equally as stylish you can get hold of. Sometimes things HAVE to be new: but not all the time. Just watch "Money For Nothing". Sarah upcycles everything from tables to drawers to chairs. And ends up with stylish furniture that is way too good to be binned.
Our dishwater started to leave everything streaky and not quite clean, as if there was no salt. We decided to get a new one, which is very uneconomical, and even worse environmentally, but before this I wondered if the 2nd hottest setting was insufficient to clear the machine. So while we browsed the new machines, the hottest setting was used and cleanliness improved dramatically.
I wonder how many people have done what we did with the temperature, and ended up ditching the machine while trying to do their best environmentally.

Most clothes are washed on a very low heat setting these days. I do wonder if it because of this that we recently had a blockage in the drain. The pipe the washer drain is pushed into was totally blocked between the end of the washer outlet tube to the junction with the main kitchen sink drain by horrible grey smelly jellified sludge. As we have plastic pipes with screw connectors it was fairly easy to sort but not a nice job.

It is exactly for this reason that I refuse to use washing pods or dishwasher pods, that jellified covering does not dissolve properly at low heat and clogs up both the pump in your washing machine or dishwasher and the pipes beyond. They may be convenient but the bill you get from the plumber won't be.
Running your dishwasher or washing machine once a month on very hot, with a bottle of strong vinegar added to the drum should dissolve grease and muck. If you live in a hard water area then a decalcifying tablet is worthwhile, if like me you live in a soft water area they are a very little added value when added up over the life time of a machine.
I pretty much wash everything in cold water and I never use any pods for that exact same reason.
You wash all your clothes, and dishes in cold water?
My clothes in cold. Dishes in very hot water. Somehow when I answered earlier I was thinking of clothes even though the discussion was about dishes. Ooops....
Shop wisely. discipline your hobbies, spend carefully.
I was in a care home some time ago, and one of the carers was telling the other about buying from ebay. Carers are usually on the bottom pay structure.
"I just buy the first thing I see if I want it. Who can be bothered looking around for best price?"
I earn far more than she does, and I just thought:
"Me! I do that. I work hard for my money, and I am not letting go of the stuff until I have to!"

No one wants to be too rigid with their spending: however, no one wants to over-spend either.
I try to strike a balance between the two. A FEW items I love: but other items bought another day when I have the money in my account. AND bills are paid first and foremost.

I'm a bit in the middle with this one. Most of the time though I buy the best I can afford as I keep things for years. It extends to things like my artist's paints. These days a single tube of the colours I use costs more than the entire set of paints I first bought but I buy them every now and again when the are discounted. That way I have built up my kit. They last for years. Some of my tubes are well over ten years old and still good to use.
Unless they are buying to sell on ebay I do wonder at women with armfuls of clothes in shop sales. I cannot imagine half of them being worn before they are cast off. I do get the occasional 'white elephant' but who doesn't?
I have two golden rules for sales. I will not buy anything unless it fits. Squeezing into stuff coz it looks great, and cheap often ends up on ebay as Brand New With Tags.
I never take the tags off until I am about to leave the house, or I am 100% certain.
Anything I buy is put on a hanger at the edge of my wardrobe, and has to be considered before choosing anything else appropriate.
My mum ends up buying a washing machine every 4 years its just her and my brother but he insists on buying the cheapest model there is.
My washing machine dealt with 3 children, various dogs me and OH. OH's clothes and those of my second son had to go in seperate because of welding grime, oil and grease that comes from working in metal and car trades..My eldest son had chefs whites that had to be boil washed to get stains out.. Then there was the family of 5 normal wash loads of lights, darks , denim , sheets towels ect , plus washes for dog blankets and towels.. The machine ran every day, sometimes twice a day. And it lasted 17 years but it was Miele..
Added up my mum has spent a lot lot more on washing machines than I have.
