I guess I already do most of that. I've been buying protein bars that are like candy as my candy now lol but if I have actual candy or something, then I eat a small amount.
I grow fruit and vegetables and we also tend to buy so many of them too that, as I don't like seeing anything go to waste, I usually eat so many of these that I am literally not hungry for junk or packet foods. I like to make my own dishes as well. Mostly, with chocolate, although I like it I don't buy it. It is usually others who buy it for me occasionally. I get cravings but it's usually not handy at the time. My worst is probably high salt intake from that which I add to cooking.
Perhaps the nearest I regularly get is my fish and chips. That's today - yipee. I don't class it as junk but I do over eat on them
I have to point out that most protein bars are very high in sugar or worse, fructose corn syrup. They should be considered candy and consumed as such.
Raw nuts no oil or salt are the healthy sort not peanuts or dry roast etc.
Dont buy into the bottled water companies hype that you need an extra 2 ltrs of water per day that is a misquote from an old WHO report that been exploited for profit.
I agree that planning and cooking from scratch is the best way to go and if you can grow any fruit or vegetables yourself even better.
There are a lot of hidden salt and sugar in sauces, relishes and other condiments. Salt is a cheap flavour boost which is why pre packaged food is full of it.
Artifical sweetners are to be avoided as well they might be less calories but they dont stop your body craving sugar in fact they fool your body into expecting the sugar rush and when it doesnt come you crash.
Point is avoiding un-healthy food isnt easy if you work full time have a limited income of are not able to cook from scratch . We need to stop pretending its weakness on our part and realise that this is big business and government backing that has caused the shops to be full of food that is killing us all..
After saying earlier that I seldom eat processed foods I must admit that on this rare occasion I am reading here whilst chomping my way through a pack of mixed chicken bites. I will say though that it is rare and they were on short date and reduced to 29 pence from £2.90 lol

There's a good bit of them that are lower in sugar, and no corn syrup. Some are using stevia and whatnot, though.. I prefer when they use real sugar but just put less, which is harder to find. If one is still higher in sugar, then I do consider it candy just the same, but still more nutritious overall than pure candy.

When looking for my mum I found that raw bars were the best.

I cut back on the portion size for my sweets and added more veggies to meals instead. I also remind myself to eat nuts and seeds for protein at least once a day, not just meat or cheese. And I needed to check portion sizes for protein sources as well, since I was eating too much at one time.
Energy bars are a last resort for snack times and usually saved for the occasional snack on the go. My healthier option is homemade foods packaged ahead of time or being back home when it's time to eat!

I ate three bags of crisps yesterday: I was starving. When I get that hungry I ALWAYS eat crisps. They are an addiction. I also drank a bottle of coca-cola.

Completely unhealthy but utterly delicious.
Really the only time I have cola is when I go out for a meal, rather than wine. I wonder what is worse? Cola or wine?

I am always disappointed by crisps. I think they are going to be really nice, and the first few are, but then they get boring, and if you have more than one at a time, the congeal, and taste yacky.

It's not often I eat them nowadays. I used to eat them quite a bit though. My favourites were just ordinary ready salted. The cheap supermarket ones. They were just potatoes, oil and salt. The flavoured ones have artificial flavours which I often find taste terrible.

If I am going to eat crisps, it is the plain ones I eat, and Kettle crisps are the best, but expensive in comparison.

Those are nice, but you have to make them yourself...
