In the late '60s and early '70s we were walking on the Moon! Now it's different; we have space stations, probes, etc., but it's not the same as seeing an astronaut hit a golf ball on the lunar surface! OK, I already know that I'm nuts!

I know, but the people that were alive at that time (especially golfers!) loved it. Mars could be a planet that we could do a "walk about" on. Sorry for my Aussie-talk there.
I seem to recall that it was always reckoned to be a waste of time and money to put a man on the moon, but Kennedy wanted the space race to be won and seen to be won. If Russia had not been the first into space, the problem would probably never have arisen.
It did though, and Kennedy had to trump the ruskies.

Maybe it's time for us to walk on Putin; he's on his planet and I'm glad that I don't share any of the space in his demented universe. I combined science with politics there . . .
I'm a big fan of space exploration. And in my opinion the USA has been neglectful budget wise. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Of course it was the Wright Brothers that conquered the air, not the government. So maybe the private sector will help make the Moon and Mars colonization possible.
I just read an aticle not too long ago stating that NASA is looking into (and I think has gotton the funding) to go to Europa (one of Jupiters?? moons??? I'm not sure.)
I guess Europa has water.
Anyway, if this is the case then we might be picking up again!

Money talks, so, I quite agree.
Is richard Branson not going to be the first to offer commercial space flights?

Mark and Scott Kelly are twins and NASA astronauts. Mark is going to remain on Earth while Scott will be spending a year on the International Space Station. NASA wants to see how this event affects the two.

Space exploration is quietly going private.
This is probably a good thing.
It just got too expensive for government, and detracted from our oh so necessary war machines.
