We are gearing up for summer. Getting up earlier with eventual planning for a siesta mid day. This so we can be out while its still peaceful and cool for the dogs during the summer months. 5.45 is the norm for now, it will change as the days get longer.
It must be tricky getting out of the habit of siestas?

That sounds like a good idea. Dogs or not it does break up the day a bit too. I tend to relax for an hour or so mid day but not totally so.

I am rubbish at sleeping during the day.
In a way you are lucky . Since my graves disease started I have chronic fatigue. Im always ready to sleep. I never sit at an airport for fear of falling asleep, Ive fallen asleep in bars, restaurants, church ( yes Ive been to church), the cinema and even at my own birthday party ! I keep it under control but I can sleep anywhere anytime...

If we have our bedroom windows open then the 'Dawn Chorus' sometimes stirs us from sleep around 5am (or just before sunrise) which is currently around 5.50am at the moment.
It's not a problem though as we are used to it and roll over and carry on sleeping

I often listen out for the dawn chorus but mostly don't really hear it as I remember it now. I think that is partly due to double glazing and the fact that our bedroom window looks out onto the road rather than the open fields to the rear. I like the open window in the summer but it's a bit too cold for the winter, particulary as the prevailing wind would blow straight in and around the room.

We are exactly the same. We have thought of extending out the back to change our view. It would be lovely to wake up and look out to the woods.
