I saw some wasps and bumble bees.. One was a black wasp near my door. Of course, Japanese beetles in the crape myrtle.. fewer at least. What I was able to collect in a day some days I can collect in a few days.
Oh... spotted more fire ant mounds. They are spreading all over the place in sneaky places in the grass. I got bit yesterday while admiring flowers lol
I spotted another lizard the other day (this one was almost black instead of green like the one before). It tried to run into the garage.. It's interesting, ever since I mentioned we needed more lizards maybe to eat the beetles, I am seeing more lizards heading toward where the beetles are LOL

I haven't seen any dragonflies here yet this year but we do get quite a few. Some are quite big but these never seem to land long enough for a good look. I do wonder whether the slender blue ones that Cassie mentioned are the same as those we get here. They are fairly small but very common.
The bee colony I have in the garden now was very quiet on Saturday and I almost wondered whether they had gone but it was a cool day. Yesterday it was warmer and they were as 'busy as bees' lol. I do hope they don't get too big for their boots.
Last year there were so many reports of wildlife invading towns curious animals coming right into city centres and having a good look around. This year we are shocked at the lack of wildlife egrets which were once as common as pigeons are no where to be found, swans that flocked to the lake are now solitary visitors and even the deer seem to be thin on the ground. It's almost as if the wildlife that came last year looked at us humans and thought, we need to get as far away from them as possible..

I have noticed that too. I do wonder if some of it is due to the weather though as some of the animals which were more common in the countryside seem scarcer. Here, last year snakes were commonly seen even though there were more walkers but I have yet to see one this year, although I have seen some photos taken in a nature park in the city of them this year. I have seen no frogs and butterflies are scarce at the moment. The deer are still around though and birdlife is thriving. A beautiful red kite flew around yesterday.

I think the weather has been an influence in some late development here and I know the over population of geese has been a burden for ducks grebes coots etc. But to go from whole flocks of egrets, swans ect to not a single one...

The wildlife on this planet is incredible. There are so many useful insects and animals. And we must preserve all of it. In generations to come, they'll see the work the human race did to protect planet earth. Also, animals CAN take care of themselves: but we have to keep their natural habitats healthy and thriving for them to continue doing so.
Earth IS a paradise: but only when we look after our world. We mustn't give up.
